Q. Victor, you obviously won a World Series with the Nationals in 2019. How does that experience help you prepare for this experience with the Mariners?
VICTOR ROBLES: Yeah. You know, I was able to experience that journey back in 2019, so I think it kind of gives me some confidence knowing that I already went through that journey.
Right now I think you feel kind of the same vibes or energy from back then, and you can kind of just compare them to what this team is living.
Q. There was a lot of talk before the season about how good this outfield could potentially be, and obviously with what you went through with being hurt and just -- how does it feel to see everyone be healthy and really performing at the right time for the playoffs?
VICTOR ROBLES: Yeah. You know, it's definitely a privilege. I mean, I thank God, give Him all the grace, all the thanks, because I honestly didn't think I was going to make it in time. So I just thank Him for letting me be able to be here.
But not just Him. I want to thank the Mariners, the Oracle, all the training staff, all the doctors back there that definitely helped me get back on the field.
Q. What do you think it is about this outfield, aside from just the skill set (indiscernible) that makes it different or sets it apart from other outfields that you've been a part of?
VICTOR ROBLES: Say it again, please.
Q. What do you think it is about this outfield that makes it different or sets it apart from other outfields that you've played for?
VICTOR ROBLES: Yeah. I think it's just the energy we bring. I mean, we go out there and really enjoy the game, you know? It's kind of the name of baseball. It's definitely a game. It's something to go enjoy. And I think when we go out there and give 100 percent, you can definitely tell that all of us are just out there and having fun.
Q. Victor, given everything that you have been through this season, just how special is it to be here on this stage at this moment right now?
VICTOR ROBLES: Yeah. You know, it's definitely kind of the stage we're at right now. I believe that God has a purpose for you, and I definitely think that, you know, it was His plan for -- maybe to take me out of the regular season but have me ready for here, for the postseason. So you have to just trust His process.
Q. Victor, you guys run the bases as aggressively as any team in the league. Just going into an environment where that extra 90 feet is so important in the playoffs, just how excited are you for the style of play that you guys have coming into the playoffs?
VICTOR ROBLES: Yeah. You know, I love it. I love how the team is always thinking about base stealing, trying to think of how to get over to the next 90 feet, and it -- because it's something that characterizes myself, you know? Just trying to be aggressive, being aggressive, but being smart about it, just taking advantage and trying to get over to the next base.
But definitely, you know, it's been fun.
Q. Victor, what is it about George Kirby that, when you're in the field playing defense, playing behind him, the level of confidence that you have in him as a pitcher? What kind of separates him, and where's the confidence level at with him as the team in general?
VICTOR ROBLES: Yeah. I don't think it's just Kirby, but I think it's the entire pitching staff. It's definitely a privilege watching them from back there.
But that's really what we're trying to do. We're trying to go out there and help them as much as they can so they can limit the pitches that they use and let them do their thing and take us as far as they can.
Q. Victor, it's been five days of waiting. What do you see in that clubhouse this morning?
VICTOR ROBLES: Say it again. I was distracted. I'm sorry.
Q. It's been five days of waiting for this game. What is that clubhouse like this morning? What do you see in your teammates in there right now?
VICTOR ROBLES: You know, I think it's just the wait's finally over. We've been waiting, and I think you can definitely feel the vibes.
Everybody's over there just ready, anxious, ready to play. But I think the vibes have been pretty much based similar for about a month now, about a month now until now. I don't think anything's changed. I think these guys are enjoying it and just ready to play.
Q. Victor, how does this team you're on now compare to that team that you were on with the Nationals in terms of talent and capability to have success in the postseason?
VICTOR ROBLES: Yeah. You know, I think the 2019 team had a lot more vets, a lot of guys that -- you know, they had already several years playing the game, but in terms of talent, I think it's pretty similar.
I've said it before. You know, the same vibes, the same kind of mentality, going out there with the same purpose. I think this team has really collectively came together on the field to where it feels like just one player, and I think that's something pretty special to be a part of.
Q. Victor, you accomplished so much in your career before you came to Seattle. What have you most enjoyed about Victor Robles, the Seattle Mariner?
VICTOR ROBLES: I think just how freely I've been able to play my game. I think from the moment I stepped in the clubhouse, the team told me, just be yourself. Don't try to be anyone else.
And that's what I've been doing, you know, just playing my -- doing what I have to do, impacting the game in the way that I can and help out the team when -- in ways that I can and just enjoying it out there.
