Q. How pleased are you with your performance today?
TOMMY FLEETWOOD: Yeah, solid today. I don't think it was very easy. I think the course is getting firmer and firmer. I don't know what, it didn't look as windy as it was this afternoon, unfortunately, this morning. But it was pretty tough. I felt like it was hard to get close. So it's not that easy to make birdie.
So I think you had to make the most of the odd scorable hole there was. I didn't get off to the greatest of starts. You know, I was fortunate to get a nice bounce back birdie as soon as I made bogey. Now, just solid.
Q. How different is this compared to what you do week-in and week-out on the DP World Tour and PGA TOUR?
TOMMY FLEETWOOD: Yeah, links golf is different, and even for somebody that played a lot of it as an amateur like myself, we don't do it very often these days.
So shots, even the last, just calculating the spin in the wind, normally for me especially, I always feel like into the wind, I can sort of crunch something and hit it low, but as soon as you do that around here, you can't get any extra out of the ball. It's only spinning it more and the wind is hitting it more.
I think you have to take that into account. I think the reactions of the golf ball, of course, and different visuals, there's so much variety that you can use on links golf. You can hit it high if you want. You can hit it low. You can hit it different shapes. I think anybody that has imagination can do it.
Q. Is mentality a shift in that as much a big thing with links golf? We know you spent substantial time, like all the top players -- you know your numbers inside out -- I found that out last week, you really know how you put it together normally. Do you like the fact that it leans to being a lad again growing up in Southport hitting low shots on links courses
TOMMY FLEETWOOD: Yeah, having a bit of trust in that, as well. You're going to get some right and you're going to get some wrong, which is every week, but it can get dramatized a little bit on links golf but for sure, like I say, if you have imagination, I feel like there's always something you can conjure up on links or there's always a shot you might see and pull off.
Nothing is ever that straightforward for the majority of the time but still golf as well. Like good shots, generally, they do the trick and hole some putts and you're going to be all right.
Q. Looking at where your game has been, where your game is at the moment, do you think there are bits, a bit of polish on it, or are you quite comfortable with everything?
TOMMY FLEETWOOD: I kind of like where I'm at. I think golf can change on any given day, of course. But there's nothing I'm particularly searching for. I think over the last few weeks, sort of put myself in good positions a lot, and haven't sort of had the results that I feel like my golf has maybe warranted.
So no, I quite like where I'm at. It's just about going at it every day with the right attitude and just executing the shot that's in front of you and being as accepting as you possibly can. This time of the year, of course for a lot of us The Open is around the corner and where a lot of people's ultimate dreams lie. I think managing that side of it and just going out and playing golf and enjoying it is sometimes the hardest thing to do.
But hopefully I can stay in that frame of mind.
