Quick Quotes

Q. Well played, a 66 bring you to 8-under. What was the key to your performance today?

MARCUS ARMITAGE: Just stayed patient and keeping the focus that I found yesterday afternoon on the range. I wasn't too confident on Wednesday talking to you, and we worked a few things out on the range, and I've just taken it forward in the last two days and the golf ball has been under control. Quite happy.

Q. The old commentating cliché of when someone makes a bogey on the last hole; that it will leave a bad taste in the mouth at lunch, but you seem to have got over it immediately. Tell us how you deal with finishing a round of golf that was so good with a slightly disappointing end.

MARCUS ARMITAGE: You know, I caddie wanted me to lay up, but I said I could have a putt for the lead after 36, I would rather have a chance at that, and even if I make double, I'm going into the weekend four back. I'm happy with that decision and that's what I want to do.

So the result, I had to accept it. That's the way I play golf, and that's the way I've always played golf. I want to make an eagle at the last and be tied for the lead. Unfortunately it didn't work out today and we'll go forward and hopefully be in that position again.

Q. Before you go, as an Englishman, Flagship Event on The European Tour at Wentworth Club, how cool is it with the fans here as well?

MARCUS ARMITAGE: It's awesome. I grew up watching The World Match Play, BMW PGA Championship, watching all the players. I've been an absolute golf nut all my life. Been watching myself for so many years, and just to be here and be on the leaderboard, I'm just taking it all in and just really appreciating life at the moment. There's a lot of sacrifices you have to put into this game, and you get rewarded when you play.
