Q. Overall thoughts?
ROBERT MacINTYRE: Solid, a couple of errors but my short game saved me when I needed to and overall solid round of golf.
Q. What were the key points out there today? The wind was blowing, and it was a terrific start and looked like the back nine was playing a little bit more difficult than the front nine?
ROBERT MacINTYRE: A hundred percent. That front nine is brutal. When you turn back in, probably from 10, you turn from there, and you maybe get a little bit of kind of ease when you get to the par 5, a little bit downwind.
But other than that, it's just hang on and I managed to hit some really, really good shots coming in. The drive off, I think it's 15, drive off there, hit 7-iron in there. Didn't convert it, but I just felt like I had control of the golf ball.
Q. Do you feel you left a couple out there?
ROBERT MacINTYRE: A hundred percent. I hit a great tee shot off 1 and I've almost got no shot. If it was any more steep a downslope, I was going to have to chip it backward from a perfect lie. There's a couple of holes, it just doesn't suit the way I play golf. It's part of the game. Look, 67 is a great start.
Q. Driver off 17; the shape of the shot was incredible.
ROBERT MacINTYRE: I had to bend it. Had the tee way back. I thought the tee would have been forward today from the practise rounds because it's so steep. I've hit it maybe 270 off the tee, and I mean to hit it at least 240. But I have no angle to get it on to the fairway. To hit it straight up the hole, I have to hit a 9-iron. The only club that I can slice from that corner is a driver. I grew up on links golf, so I can hit a drive off the deck.
Q. One off the lead as things stand, it's getting to be a regular habit now, being in contention at the start of a tournament.
ROBERT MacINTYRE: Yeah, look, it's just about getting into position going into the back nine on Sunday, or even the last five holes on Sunday. Play your golf, just keep trying the best you can, hit the shot you see, five holes to go, and then we'll think about a golf tournament.
It's just getting yourself into position, and if we get into a position that we need to think about it with five holes to go, we'll think about it.
