Quick Quotes

Q. 64 is a good day at the office anywhere, especially here at Sunningdale, and great way to start your account here at the Senior Open. How did you find it out there today?

MARK HENSBY: It was a bit chillier and the ball wasn't going as far early on but I got off to a good start obviously as you saw, and yeah, just tried to ride it in.

Q. Out in 29 is quite a start as well. Psychologically, is it hard to keep that momentum?

MARK HENSBY: Yeah, I can you get into the stage, you try and hit shots, I was hitting it really close. Like I said the first three holes I wasn't outside three feet. But yeah, and to be honest, the back nine probably is a little bit more difficult,.

I mean, you've only got one par 5 and you've got that long par 3 and there's a couple of tricky tee shots on the back nine. Not that the front is easy. But it's definitely a little bit tougher today.

Q. We look at your results on the Senior Tour at the moment for the year. It's incredibly stable. You're there inside the top 20 or roundabouts. A top five at the U.S. Senior Open. Do you come into this week with a lot of confidence?

MARK HENSBY: Yeah, the U.S. Senior Open I learned a lot playing with Pádraig and Stewart the last day. You don't have to be perfect and unfortunately we feel like we have to. Pádraig played great the last nine holes and it was fun to be there and watch and competing, even though I wasn't in contention the last nine holes.

I think confidence, I haven't played here before. But I love the golf course and my game has been kind of trending at times and thank goodness it was good today.

Q. Certainly seems to suit your eye. What kind of challenges can we expect to see on the weekend especially on the back nine as the drama builds up?

MARK HENSBY: Tee shots, the great thing about this course is you can hit an iron off the tee or driver if you want to take it on. I think if it got a little firmer and faster, some of those tee shots would be more tricky on the back nine, and obviously the pin placements make a big deal out here.
