Quick Quotes

Q. 3-under the last ten holes, so nice, strong finish. What was the strength of your game out there today?

COLIN MONTGOMERIE: I drove the ball well. I've been driving the ball particularly straight. It's not long. Never has been that long, but it's straight. That's key around here. I hit every fairway today and every fairway yesterday in the Pro-Am. It's important.

Although you might just miss the fairway, you're in the semi. You're guessing how far it's going to go; is it going to release on the greens, is it not. At least you know off the fairway what it's going to do. I might not be long off the tee but I'm straight, and that's key, yeah.

Q. There's a lot of short par 4s here?

COLIN MONTGOMERIE: Short, but dangerous.

Q. Is it easy to get frustrated playing holes thinking you should birdie?

COLIN MONTGOMERIE: 3, 9 and 11, okay, and you feel you should be 2-under out of the three of them. And I think Miguel, who is one of the favourites here, he's 1-over for them. I think Paul Lawrie, again, I think he was 1-over and I think I played them level.

So they are just nasty, and the pin positions as they are in competition, as they are in the Senior Open, very difficult to get chose to the pin.

So yeah, great, great short par 4s, and it shows that we don't need to make holes 540 yards par 4, you know, we can make them at 330 and make them as difficult as those are. That pin on the 9th, the top right, the pin back left on 11, nasty, nasty. Good pin placements, but that's what the holes were designed for.
