Quick Quotes

Q. 64; how well did you play?

STEPHEN AMES: Solid, no mistakes, a lot of fairways, a lot of greens and gave myself a lot of opportunities which you need to do out here I guess.

Q. Conditions are quite calm. How conducive were they to good scoring?

STEPHEN AMES: Good scoring for sure. You still have to hit the shots on the right plateau on the greens. I think overall the golf course played fair, played nicely.

Q. What did you do particularly well out there today?

STEPHEN AMES: Nothing, really. I hit the ball nice, solid. Hit a lot of greens. Gave myself the opportunities and any time I had some long-ish putts for birdie, I gave myself some nice foot-and-a-half, two-foot putts for par. Wasn't too stressful, let's put it that way.

Q. A couple of highlights?

STEPHEN AMES: 10, short par 4 to these days standards, 499, I hit driver, 5-iron in there to about eight feet left of the flag just on the edge of the green and I made that. A good 2-putt on 11, like I said, it's a long hole there. 12, 13 -- I have to go back in my memory bank.

13 I hit it pin-high right just past the flag, downhill putt, 15 feet and made birdie.

14, hit 3-wood front edge of the green and 2-putt for birdie.

15, good.

16, missed a short one.

17, missed a another one.

18, I actually laid back off the tee and hit 3-wood, 5-wood on the green and 2-putted for my birdie. It was, like I said, stressful.

The year has been good for me. I'm very happy the way the year's been going. Playing very nicely. It's all part of it.
