Quick Quotes

Q. Maybe just final thoughts about your opening round.

XANDER SCHAUFFELE: Yeah, it was hot, sweaty. 3-under is okay score, it seems. It will probably be in, I don't know, maybe 15th at the end of the day ballpark, if I had to guess. So a few things to clean up and Sepp put a nice number up there for us to chase.

Q. Impressions of the course so far?

XANDER SCHAUFFELE: I'm staying 20 minutes away and I felt that storm coming in, our hotel actually lost all power, so AC went out last night, which was a nice feeling. But, yeah, with all that said, the course is in really nice shape, it took the rain really well. The greens were faster and honestly firmer than I thought. They're still very soft but certain areas are kind of some wedges were skipping a little bit more than I think everyone in my group anticipated. So the course is in immaculate shape and it's definitely there for scoring.

Q. What time did the power go out last night?

XANDER SCHAUFFELE: An emergency light came on, we had to unscrew a light bulb or sleep with the lights on. My caddie slept with the lights on in his hotel room. I don't know. It was out for probably five hours.

Q. You played in events without fans before, does it feel different though this morning because of the circumstances?

XANDER SCHAUFFELE: A little bit, I think. Everyone's -- everyone's -- besides matching three other guys out here, uniform-wise, I think everyone's understanding that they're representing their country and when you're announced on the first tee that's kind of unique. Standing in a line there and being announced in that style and fashion, it's kind of cool and kind of different and it kind of makes sense for this tournament.
