Quick Quotes

Q. Maybe just a recap of the day, nice to be in contention, right up in the top?

MITO PEREIRA: Yeah, I mean it's a great day, solid play from the tee, didn't hit it in the rough today, so that's a big deal on this course. The rough is pretty high, you can get really buried balls and try to speculate the shot. So keep it in the fairway was a big deal today and drop a couple putts.

Q. How about at No. 6 the eagle?

MITO PEREIRA: Oh, yeah, I forgot about that one, that was a good one. From the bunker. I hit a really good shot from the tee, I thought it was pretty close to the pin, it hit the tree and it came down to the bunker. But it was a great place to be and just a good shot from the bunker and it went in.

Q. How has your confidence changed since you got that third victory and good results on the PGA TOUR? How much more confident are you now?

MITO PEREIRA: More than confident, it's more like believing in yourself that you can do it. Obviously you get three wins on the Korn Ferry it's not easy and then a couple TOUR starts to get top 5 and top 6 in PGA TOUR events, it's a big deal for me. Like you never know if you can do it or not. So, I mean, I'm in a good place right now and just trying to enjoy it as much as I can.

Q. Mito is a nickname?

MITO PEREIRA: Yes.

Q. What does it mean?

MITO PEREIRA: It's like diminutive from Guillermo. Little Guillermo.

Q. Where does that round rank, the round today, within your career so far?

MITO PEREIRA: That's a tough question. There's so many rounds in my career. I don't know, probably in the top 20. I don't know. I'm just guessing.

Q. Was there anything from the Pan Am Games, that whole experience and the bronze there, anything you brought from that to here?

MITO PEREIRA: Yeah, I mean I was more excited to come here since I played those games because as a golfer you don't really know how is the experience here to get in the village or to see every athlete here, it is way different than the tournaments we play. So since I played at the Pan Am Games I was going with more like excitement to come to the Olympic Games, which is the biggest event in the world.

Q. The state of golf in Chile having both of you guys up there on the leaderboard hopefully at the end of today, what can that do for golf back home?

MITO PEREIRA: Well I think it's been growing a lot since Joaquin won on the PGA TOUR, top-25 in the world, he's a really good player. I think people in Chile are trying to get more involved in golf. It's a small country for golf, it's not very popular and I hope this helps and try to grow the game a little bit more and be more accessible for everybody.

Q. How competitive are you two? I know you're very, very good friends, but how competitive are you two?

MITO PEREIRA: Oh, very competitive.

Q. To the point that this week --

MITO PEREIRA: No, no, I'm saying -- obviously we're going to do, want to do the best thing. But we help each other, support each other, we're very good friends.

Q. What would it be like, it looks like you're bound to be in the top sort of few groups tomorrow, what will it be like being very near the top of the leaderboard in the Olympic games?

MITO PEREIRA: Well, it's going to be the same day, try to do your thing and try to play your game, try to enjoy it. I'm in the great position, great tournament, great event, so just try to enjoy a little bit where I'm from where I'm standing.

Q. The siren went right after you finished. How does that make you feel?

MITO PEREIRA: That's a good break there. Yesterday it sounded I was on 18 and I had to wait here for a couple hours just to hit two or three shots. So right now I can just go and rest.
