Q. Many, many congratulations, you are the Olympic champion. Is it beginning to sink in?
XANDER SCHAUFFELE: Yeah, as I come through the queue and do a few more interviews it becomes easier to say and it has a nice ring to it.
Q. Take me to that moment on 18. You sink the putt, you've got the gold medal, what were you thinking?
XANDER SCHAUFFELE: Just in shock. I was trying so hard to just stay calm. Hit a terrible drive on 18, had to make a sort of sloppy par and fortunately hit it close enough to sort of have a high percentage putt at roughly four, five feet. But, man, it was stressful. And I made that putt and it was just a huge weight lifted off my shoulders and just very relieved and happy, of course.
Q. Is this the biggest moment of your career so far?
XANDER SCHAUFFELE: I would like to think so.
Q. Can you even begin to put into words -- golf is such a new sport in the Olympics and we know for you golfers it's all about the major, how much are you starting to fall in love though with the Olympic games?
XANDER SCHAUFFELE: Yeah, it's special. That's a word that's thrown around a lot, especially for us golfers, I mean it's so different for us, we're used to playing for money and we play a normal schedule and this is every four years and it's just kind of a different feel to it. And you're wearing your country's colors and everyone's just trying to represent to the best of their ability. So it does have that sort of special and different feel.
Q. How special is it that you've won it here in Japan. We know about your Japanese heritage, your Chinese mother was raised here, your grandparents are here, how much does that mean to you?
XANDER SCHAUFFELE: Yeah, a lot. They're not very far away, hopefully I can sneak and see them but probably not. I'm probably going to have to FaceTime or something. And to have my dad here as well is really special. I gave him a hug off the back of the green there, I know this means a lot to him so I'm just happy to sort of deliver this.
