Quick Quotes

Q. After the emotion of yesterday, did today feel like you settled into a golf tournament?

JASON DAY: I did, yes. It was much more focused. Actual left-to-right, I played nice today. The only down sighted to the game today is I missed one green and that was when I missed the green on 16. Hit it in the water.

But I think overall, it would have been nice to be able to capitalise on the par 5s a little bit more. There's only three of them, so just poor drives on 9 and 14. And if I can get that on the fairway, then at least give myself an opportunity to get up near the green, try and work a little bit there. But yeah, other than that, it was nice work today. I just have to push a little bit over the weekend.

Q. Felt like you had a lot of tap-in pars today.

JASON DAY: Yeah, they were just like right there. Like a lot of the putts, I felt like -- I feel like I'm hitting good putts. I've just got to keep giving myself the opportunities. It was nice over the first two days to hit a ton of greens. That has not been the case this year. So it just goes to show that I'm working on the right things which is nice. I've just got to hit them a little bit closer. Give myself closer opportunities and then just let it go over the weekend and see how it goes.

Q. Did you think the one on 7 -- that was from as far away as you could be?

JASON DAY: That was a long way. When I hit it -- because when I go on the greens, my goal is to hole every putt because if you go over there just to lag it, you're going to have a larger target so you're going to make a bigger mistake. So when I hit it, I'm like, that's on a pretty good line. Just carried too much speed and lipped-out. To be honest I was happy to 2-putt there but it would have been nice to hole the big one.

Q. Does the mindset feel any different, around the top 10, 15, there's three winners this week.

JASON DAY: It really does. Because you're trying to push, you know what I mean. You want to pick up a medal. I'm currently six back so we have some work to do over the weekend.

Q. Even the first two days, there's only been, really, 18 and 16, there's only been a couple of swings that haven't been maybe where you wanted them. Do you feel like 4 can be 7 or 8?

JASON DAY: Pretty quickly. I had a bogey and double yesterday and I had a good bogey yesterday. You get that on the green, and that wasn't a hard shot. I just didn't commit to the shot and unfortunately I just came up and out of it and hit it in the water.

So that's definitely my fault for not committing to what I'm trying to do. So I just need to be better over the weekend. I think if that happens, then I'm hoping I give myself more opportunities at birdie.

Q. Do tactics change?

JASON DAY: Definitely not. I would say on the harder holes, you're just trying to give yourself pars but if you can capitalise on the opportunities, on the easier ones, like the par 5s, you have to take advantage of the par 5s. They are all gettable and reachable so that's important.

Yeah, I've just got to focus on getting the swing a little bit more grooved and then see how it goes.
