Q. 62. The course record. How nice was that?
SHANE LOWRY: It was nice. It was real fun out there. I got off to a nice start and then I just kept going. I felt great out there. Just kept my foot on the gas and tried to keep hitting good shots and keep holing putts and it was a nice day.
Q. Feels like everyone in Doonbeg has lost their voice cheering you on. How much do you thrive on that support?
SHANE LOWRY: It was great. I think this is going to be the nicest day of the week as well, so the crowds are out there. It looks amazing. I'm sure this place looks amazing on TV. The crowds were amazing out there today. They support me along the way and it was nice to give them something to shout about.
Q. Yeah, so many great moments throughout the day. If you could pinpoint one, what was your highlight for the day?
SHANE LOWRY: I liked the little birdie I made on 15, after the mistake I made on 13. I liked how I finished the round off after that. Also, I think my par putt on 10 was probably my highlight of the day. After getting pretty unlucky with my second shot, I think I did a great job making par there. Yeah, there was a few today, but I'll take 'em because it's been awhile, so it was nice.
Q. You've had the 36-hole lead at this event before. How much do you relish being the guy in front, the guy that everyone has to chase heading into the weekend?
SHANE LOWRY: It's good. Look, you just want to get off to a good start and give yourself a chance going into the weekend. I know the conditions are going to be tough tomorrow, so I knew I needed to go and shoot a good score today. There's a lot of great players out there, so I'm sure they will be running at it this weekend as well. But I'm up there now and I'm going to go out and give my best over the next two days.
Q. 62. Good day at the office.
SHANE LOWRY: Yeah, it was. It was one of my better ones. I played great. Just kept going. Every time I kept making birdie, I just kept going, wanting to birdie the next. I felt like I was pretty in control out there. So it was good fun out there. It's been awhile since I've had that much fun on the golf course, so I'll take it.
Q. When you walked off 12, 8-under par, all the talk in the media center was a 59. Was it on your mind?
SHANE LOWRY: I thought about it. Yeah, I did think about it until I 3-putted 13. No, I did have a little laugh. You know, this, you know, out in 30 and the back nine is only 34, so, yeah, you do kind of think about it a little bit. But I think I was very good, I just kind of was at the job at hand today. I know I made a little mistake on 13, but I think I did a good job after that of playing the rest of the round really well and giving myself a couple of chances on the way in.
Q. The par save on 10 seems like a big moment.
SHANE LOWRY: It was, yeah, because obviously I had a great front nine, and 10's very, it's a good opportunity. I felt like I hit a decent second shot, I think I got quite unlucky there. Yeah, just managed to hole that putt, I don't know how, and it kicked me on the rest of the round. I did a good job after that.
Q. The previous four Irish opens you finished in the top 15, you're now the leader. Is there a feeling with you that that second Irish Open title has been coming?
SHANE LOWRY: See, there's a long way to go yet. A long way to go. There's going to be some elements over the weekend and it's going to be a bit of a battle, but one thing is for sure, I'm in a good position.
