Quick Quotes

Q. Off to a hot start. You played great all day long. You looked like you were having fun. Was it as much fun out there for you as it was for us, especially that tee shot on 18?

BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: It was fun hitting the ball far. I felt good with the driver, thankfully, and that's really kinda make-or-break for me. Drove it well at Augusta, didn't have my irons. Worked on my irons, feel like they're a little bit better. Chipping around the greens was stellar today. Made some clutch putts. But all in all, it was fun to finish off with a nice bang on the last hole.

Q. You mentioned your irons. They are sharper. They look sharper than they were in Augusta. Have you tweaked anything in your equipment or in your swing?

BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: Just a little bit of swing stuff, yep, dialing it back in and getting a little more comfortable. When I get under pressure and things get fast, my hands can get really quick. I'm optimizing for some equipment and we've got some stuff coming here soon, after PGA probably, but if I get that dialed and I'm under pressure and get those fast hands again, hopefully that will be alleviated this next time.

Q. It's fun to hit it far, but does the challenge of trying to pick the right club into these greens override the fun of hitting it far?

BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: Oh, 100 percent. The altitude and then making sure your launch and spin is correct is such a difficult task. The shot I hit on 14, I think it was 14, was not that far off. It was uphill, 130-yard shot and I just played 140 because it was into the wind and it just went too far and then three-putted.

It's just little things out here, and that's what can get you out here. So I've got to be careful the next couple days and execute on demand.
