Q. Did you have a birdie look on your last hole?
MARTIN KAYMER: I had a birdie look but it was an awkward putt. Like 15 feet. Was a bit awkward. It was a tricky one to read. But overall played really solid. Didn't make any mistakes. Made a few nice putts. The eagle helped to get the round going. I stayed in it nicely. But I enjoyed playing the golf course. I've been coming here since 2007, so I do know the golf course. It's never really changed, so it's nice playing here.
Q. Have you always played well here?
MARTIN KAYMER: I never played really bad. I never played poorly. I always played fairly good or okay, but I never really struggled to see a good score because I enjoy the way the golf course flows. Last year I started well here. I think I shot 5- or 6-under the first round. It's a venue that I really, really like. It's one of the best golf courses that we play all year, really.
Q. Do you feel like given that what you think about the course, this is a week that could be --
MARTIN KAYMER: There are a few tournaments, obviously, that we all fancy a little bit more or less. For me in Spain, I fancy that golf course. I really like Hong Kong. Adelaide, also. I was very disappointed with my performance in Adelaide. But it's nice to finally have a round. It has been a while ago that I had a really solid round the way I played today without many mistakes, making a few putts. I could have played another nine holes because I was in good shape.
It's one of those venues that I've always enjoyed. Maybe I can switch to the forward gear now.
Q. Did you figure the scores would be like they were today --
MARTIN KAYMER: I haven't seen checked. I don't know.
Q. 6 is leading, so did you --
MARTIN KAYMER: It was not easy, but you do have your chances. If you hit the fairways then you do have your chances because it's not a very long golf course. But the greens have been tricky here and there, but I don't know -- again, I don't know where is the 20th, where is the 24th, 2-under or something? So that's decent scoring. I was not expecting to be that good, but you do have your chances. I would have thought maybe 24th, so half of the field would be probably 1-under. That would have been level par for me, I would say, maybe 2. Somewhere there.
Q. Are you anticipating a lot of changes in the conditions of the course? What are you thinking for the weekend?
MARTIN KAYMER: I think it's not going to get that much trickier because today was cold and sometimes the wind, to be honest, it made it -- the wind here and there, it was a bit on the tricky side today. So I hope if the weather gets a little bit better, we get a little bit higher temperatures, it's going to get even more doable.
