THE MODERATOR: Let's welcome the captain of Crushers GC, Bryson DeChambeau. You also shot an incredible 69 today, only had one bogey. Tell us about your round and your course management.
BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: Blue Monster is a great test of patience. Felt like G-Bo and I kept ourselves in a good frame of mind the whole entire day, and when something went wrong, we steered it right back on track, and we kept making good decisions with the wind. That's been my biggest struggle, so I made it a mission of ours to be more patient out there so we could judge the wind just a fraction better.
Q. The Crushers are currently in the lead sitting at a whopping 2-under. That just shows you how challenging it was out there today. Tell me a little bit about your team and how proud you are of them of being the only team under par today.
BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: Yeah, I love those boys. There's a reason we won here in 2023. They like this golf course. They like a tough, challenging golf course where you can strategically play and let everybody kind of mess up on their own, and we just plot along and make a couple birdies where we can and move along when it's a really brutal hole. Very proud of the guys. Paul is a stalwart; Baan knows how to get it around the golf course; and Charles always does his thing.
Q. Maybe we'll see a little old-school Crushers versus 4Aces battle happening throughout the weekend?
BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: That would be fun. I'd love to go head-to-head against the Aces. They won in 2022 and they deserve another good showing here this week.
Q. Bryson, what do you most look forward to about Masters week? What do you get excited for?
BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: I honestly love the atmosphere. It's one of the most peaceful places. My favorite moment is when the sun is kind of setting and everybody has kind of gotten off the golf course and you're just hitting golf balls by yourself or a couple other pros are out there hitting golf balls, and you see the sun going down. It's like having -- that's what I look forward to a lot coming into next week, other than playing well and giving myself a chance. I really enjoy those moments after the round practicing hard into the night.
Q. Are you in the best frame of mind do you think that you'll ever go to Augusta, two-time major champion, your YouTube channel is taking off --
BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: That's really decides if I'm going to win a major or not. (Laughs.) I'm joking. I'd say I'm in a great frame of mind. I'm happy about life. Got a lot of positive things going for me, not only in YouTube but outside of that, in business, and just the people that I have around me.
I think we're stronger than ever, and that's what matters most, ultimately. Yeah, putting on a green jacket, winning the U.S. Open trophy, winning the Open Championship, the PGA Championship, that's all great. But really what matters to me is the people that I have around me and who I can trust.
Q. One of the things that you talked about earlier in the season was your golf ball was kind of spinny, a little too spinny. Did you make any equipment changes, go back to your old ball like the Left Dash?
BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: So I went to the 25x, so Pro V1x 2025. It seems to be flying the most consistent for me. A little bit lower flighting, a little bit more control with my half shots. That was a big thing. Left Dash is a great golf ball in firm conditions, but when it got soft, it just super spun, and then when I tried to take half shots off of the Left Dash, it would just knuckle so I wouldn't get enough spin. So I have a little bit more spin throughout the bag, but on the half shots, I have a little more spin to control the golf ball on those greens a little bit.
We haven't solved the wet and dry conditions problem, but I'm working hard to figure it out, and there's a couple cool options that are being prototyped, and we'll see where it goes. I just like pushing the envelope with innovation a little bit. It excites me.
