Q. It was a great challenge just to get close. How do you wrap that up?
CHARL SCHWARTZEL: Just on this course, you never know what happens. I felt like all week I was pretty good, but it's just hard. It's probably one of the hardest golf courses you'll ever play, especially in those conditions we were playing in.
Got on an amazing run. Just hit great shots. All of a sudden I found myself in with a chance and Leish still having 18 to play. When I was going down 1, I saw him in the trees, I thought, if I birdie, I have a good chance of getting in a playoff. But he made a great par. I played with him yesterday and he was playing great golf.
But I'm very happy with my own game now.
Q. You rolled off four straight birdies at one point that got you back in there.
CHARL SCHWARTZEL: I know, and I started off great, too, and kept missing those putts. I had a few eight-footers for birdies in the first few holes and missed them. On this course, it always feels like if you don't take those opportunities, you can fall behind. It was one of those days where I just kept hitting really good golf shots.
Q. It seems like you're playing really well. Obviously you're going into a place that you've won before. How do you feel?
CHARL SCHWARTZEL: It's the first time in a long time I said to the guys that I actually feel very optimistic. I feel quite confident about it. The last few years I've either had injuries or the game is not in great shape. If you're going to win a major, you don't need any flaws of any sort. This year so far, I've put in a lot of effort in the off time. Lost over 10 pounds of weight, got fit, started practicing harder, and the biggest thing is I have no injuries. So I've been swinging the club freely. It's been good.
Yeah, I feel good about next week.
Q. You didn't wear the bucket cap this week.
CHARL SCHWARTZEL: Geez, it would blow away every hole.
