THE MODERATOR: Thomas Detry, welcome back. 2-under 68 today. You're currently T2 entering Sunday. Please take us through the round and how you felt out there.
THOMAS DETRY: Felt pretty good, to be honest. It was a different kind of golf course with the wind blowing. Obviously had a ton of rain, but it didn't really play any different. It was more the wind. Suddenly a couple of tee shots you had to be slightly more careful, if I can say it.
But I played good golf. I felt like I was a little bit defensive on a couple of shots and got unlucky once or twice. Unlucky, sorry.
But overall I'm pretty happy. I kept myself in it. I played with DJ; he struggled a little bit. I think he was finding something.
But yeah, just in position again, and giving myself another chance for a win, for the first win of the year.
Q. What would that win mean to you? You've been right out of the gate one of the top players and one of the most consistent players all season, but to get that job done, what would that mean?
THOMAS DETRY: It would mean a lot. It took me a long time to win on the PGA TOUR, on the main tour. I got my breakthrough win last year. I felt like I sort of found the keys to unlock those wins.
If I can sort of find those feelings again that I had in Phoenix last year and get off to a great start tomorrow, I think it could be another win. But it would mean a lot. I've played so consistent the whole season. I feel like it would be a nice reward for the consistent golf that I've done pretty much all season long. I've been up there most of the weeks. It would be great to go home to my little kids with a trophy on Monday morning.
Q. Looking at the leaderboard, there's nine players within two shots of the lead. Knowing how tight it is, does that perhaps change the approach at all on Sunday?
THOMAS DETRY: Not really. I think it's going to be another windy one tomorrow, from what I've seen. We saw the scores today weren't that really low compared to the first two days. Actually, I think the course is playing really well.
It's obviously my first time playing here. I didn't really know what to expect, what to see, what to get, but I think 23-under won over three rounds last year, so really expected something much easier.
But there's a couple of good tee shots. They turned 8 into a par-4. Obviously 5 and 6 with the water, playing long into the wind. I think it's a great track. Obviously lots of wedges in your hand. But with the wind and the softness of the greens, it's not easy to control the spin. I think you've still got to maneuver your ball pretty well and hit some good shots to make birdies.
Q. Speaking of the leaderboard, it's pretty eclectic, the players that are up there. You've got the youngest guy in the league, got Blandy, the eldest, a bunch of guys that have not won yet out here. Is there something about the course that doesn't really favor any particular game, or are you surprised by who's at the top there?
THOMAS DETRY: It's not easy to make putts. I won't be the first one to say, the greens are very wet, a couple of spike marks, and obviously they roll great at the start, but towards the end it's not easy to get confidence and to trust that the ball is going to roll true.
I just think that the softness and how wide the fairways are as well -- the fairways are really wide. It doesn't really require -- it requires accuracy but not as much as you need, for example, at Bedminster. Bedminster, some of the holes are twice as long as some of the par-4s here and the fairways are a third of the width of the ones that you've got here.
That really sort of narrows the gap a little bit, and that's why I think you see more of the names that you haven't really seen at the top this week.
Q. Have you played much with La Sasso this year, and what are your impressions?
THOMAS DETRY: I have not played with him at all, so I don't really know him. I saw him last week at Palm Beach. We were practicing at Trump Jupiter, and he was playing just in front of me so I saw him there, but I never actually played with him.
Q. When he's wearing shorts are you intimidated by his bulk?
THOMAS DETRY: His big quads? No, I still think I hit it further than him, so I'll be fine.
