Q. Bryson, congratulations. Looks like your team has advanced to the next stage. There's been a lot of speculation about your lineup. I'd rather ask you myself. What was your thought behind that lineup today?
BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: Talor's playing some good golf, really good golf, and I felt like Baan would be great for Brooks today. Look, I could have gone up against him. Brooks is a great fighter, and I would have loved to have played against him, but I felt like from a matchup perspective Talor was going to be a more difficult force today. He shot 6-under today. I shot 7 and barely scraped by on the last to clip him.
He's a grinder and a fighter, and I know he's a battler. Hat's off to Gooch for his play. It's tough to play against him. He's a great wedger, a great putter. I was scared all day for sure.
Q. Was Baan's preshot routine and maybe deliberate routine part of that gamesmanship perhaps?
BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: It might have been that in there. It's a perfect matchup for them too. Did Brooks win today? Yeah, he beat him. Look, that's the thing. Match play, it's 18 holes. I tried to put him up against him. I don't know if Brooks would have shot 7-under today.
It's just one of those things, we knew we had a strong team on the foursomes match. For me against Gooch, I wanted to have a great chance at him, and it did prevail today.
Q. To let you know, I'm not sure if you're aware of it, but Brooks did and was very deliberate out there today. Were you aware of this?
BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: Sorry, Brooks. (Laughter). They were definitely farther behind. I'm sorry about that. It's just fun. We're trying to have a good time. We're trying to win, right? We want to beat them, and I felt like that gave us the best opportunity.
I played some great golf today, and foursomes guys, Paul and Charles, played really well.
Q. It was heavy Smash early on. At any time of the day, were you doubting your decision for your lineup?
BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: Yeah, every hole for sure. You doubt it, but also you have to have trust in your guys, right? That's what I did today. I was proud of the guys for being able to push through.
I got lucky on the last with a huge break with that sprinkler head. I don't know if I could have put a putter on it cleanly, and I would have been more comfortable chipping it there and giving myself a little spin and whatnot. Luckily I was standing on it and got relief.
