Madelene Sagstrom

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, Madelene, a little bit of a roller coaster day for you today. Just take me through day two.

MADELENE SAGSTROM: I'm just happy you want to talk to me right now. No, it wasn't as steady as yesterday. I wasn't hitting it as well off the tee, so I had to do a few drops here and there.

But I kept it alive, hit some good shots towards the end, and I'm still rolling the putter pretty well. I think I just need to keep it in play a little bit better, keep hitting irons good. I think that's really key out here.

Q. You had three consecutive birdies from I believe 12 to 14. How much did that help in bringing back the confidence throughout the round and end like you did?

MADELENE SAGSTROM: It was my front nine, so it's always nice to come off to a hot start. I actually thought I almost went bogey-bogey 10, 11. I was like, Lovely. I got it back really quick, so that brings that confidence.

And especially when you know like today 14, 15, 16 played real tough with the wind straight into. It's nice to have a little bit of a cushion. I needed that cushion because I lost that cushion pretty quickly. It's just nice when you get on a run like that.

Q. Being able to finish strong, how much does that help you heading into tomorrow?

MADELENE SAGSTROM: No, it helps a lot. I was putting really well today, like I said. I just was a little bit short in my speed, so I had a few putts that had really good chances but just two-putted for birdie on the last. It's really nice.

I hit a really good shot on the 8th, so, I mean, it's all in there. Then it's just who knows if it comes out or not.

Q. You were talking about a little bit of problems off the tee today. What do you do after a round like this to help prepare you for tomorrow?

MADELENE SAGSTROM: I'm going to go have lunch. That's No. 1 priority. I want to go hit a few balls just to work on -- I think you always kind of want to work on things for the bigger picture, for the future. So really go back and reset.

It's been windy for this whole week really since we got here, practice round days, too. It's easy for the body to start kind of not locking up, but adjusting after the wind, so just go back and reset and hopefully hit it good tomorrow.

Q. Third tournament in a row. Will it be nice to take a little bit of a break?

MADELENE SAGSTROM: Yeah, body is pretty tired. I mean, it's the start of the year. It's nice. It's a good -- I normally don't play more than three in a row anyway, so this works out pretty well for me.

Q. We were just talking off camera about we think we have a little bit of good luck on our side when you talk about your Vietnamese food you have been having every night. Is that going to be on the plate tonight? Seems to be working.

MADELENE SAGSTROM: Well, two nights in a row -- we'll see if Jack wants Vietnamese. It's his choice. He plays late, he gets to decide, but I think I know what I want.
