Quick Quotes

Q. Here with Wei-Ling Hsu after her first round at the LPGA Drive On Championship. You had just an amazing start to your round today. Can you take us through it?

WEI-LING HSU: Well, of course I didn't expect any like hole-out on very first hole. Like even I play January, but feels like this is my first event of the year, so you don't really think about anything. Like my first hole with the 7- and see one bounce and straight into the hole. I was like -- I thought my ball went over the green and disappear. I was like oh, my God, and I saw the volunteer was cheering for me, for that shot.

Oh, my God, eagle on very first hole. I hit a good shot but a little bit lucky, too.

Q. And the second shot, too. You had a birdie right after. What was that hole like?

WEI-LING HSU: Yeah, that's a par-5 so I got a pretty decent third shot, which is like 55 yards, 60 yards, so I put it like two-footer.

So, was nice birdie.

Q. Yeah, you had several other birdies throughout your round today. How were you finding those birdie opportunities? Was it putting? Chipping?

WEI-LING HSU: I think I have very decent practicing before I started today, especially my iron today was pretty good. Just went exactly what I want to go.

So, yeah. Putting definitely helped, too, but a little bit everything.

Q. You said this feels like your first event back of the year. How nice to feel like you're getting into the swing of things and see your name at the top of the leaderboard?

WEI-LING HSU: Well, when I play Hilton, the Tournament of Champions, definitely gave me a lot of confidence because the first two rounds I was on top of the leaderboard.

I was changing a little bit my golf swing, so at that time it's kind of like middle halfway, and after that just giving me a lot of confidence that I was on the right direction.

So just keep it patient and practicing and practicing. That's it.

Q. Being back in the States, does that make you happy? Have you ever played here at this course before?

WEI-LING HSU: Well, I play in the Founders couple years ago. I done really, really bad. Like I will say I played four or five event I didn't make over $10,000, so it's pretty bad for me.

So like I come back here, I'm happy -- I have played this golf course before. I just hope -- I just try it throw that out of the way. New golf course, new start, and just play golf.
