Q. Here with Maddie Szeryk. A way to start. 5-under 67 out here today. Just tell me about your round.
MADDIE SZERYK: Yeah, I started off with birdie-birdie and made a nice little nine-footer on the first hole.
Just started out really steady, and then I felt like later on the front nine was just forcing it and just trying to make the birdies instead of just letting them happen.
Changed the mentality walking off 10 tee and almost chipped in for birdie on 10. Had some good birdies and knew that I worked ready hard in the off-season and I just had let it happen to happen.
Q. Obviously rookie year last year. What adjustments did you make in the off-season that you saw payoff today or maybe during the off-season?
MADDIE SZERYK: Right. I got a trainer. I worked out a lot. Worked out at EXOS in Frisco. Just got like in better shape and just stronger. Just the environment isn't as overwhelming now, like being out on tour. It's not oh, my God, what's happening.
I just felt like more prepared and I knew what to work on going -- like short game was huge and like my wedges were a lot better.
Q. Showed today on this golf course. I mean, it's pretty straightforward, bouncy out there, greens are fast. Are you a player that likes fast greens?
MADDIE SZERYK: Yes, definitely. I think when I first came out here the fast greens were too much because it wasn't what I had seen to that extent.
After getting used to them, you just have to trust that it's going to get there. You don't to have force it.
Q. What did you see from your game today? I know we talked a little bit, putting was on pointe. What was working so well?
MADDIE SZERYK: I think it was just very steady. I hit a lot of fairways, a lot of greens, and when I did miss, I was two yards off. Like it wasn't anything crazy and just gave myself a lot of looks.
Like when I did hit the green, and I hit a lot of greens, but I was very close.
Q. Feels like the Canadians are everywhere out here. Had a few stop by. How cool is it to have literally everywhere you go Canada right there?
MADDIE SZERYK: It's so nice knowing there are fans wherever we are. Just very comforting that there are people rooting for me.
