Quick Quotes

Q. All right, here with Alison Lee after the first round at the Ford Championship. 6-under 66, bogey-free. Talk about how your game felt out there today.

ALISON LEE: My game feels really good. I feel like it's in a really good place. Playing golf today on this golf course felt like night and day compared to last week. No wind, greens are pretty soft, you can play aggressively out here and go for pins.

So, yeah, I can't complain. Obviously you always feel like you could do a little better. I definitely missed few good birdie opportunities. I think I missed one three-footer for birdie.

Yeah, still so much golf left. Anything can happen. I'm really happy where I stand right now going into the next three days.

Q. Played really well last week, posting good scores in tough conditions. Posted a great score today, but obviously different conditions. How do you transition from those conditions to these?

ALISON LEE: Yeah, it's tough. Playing in weather like last week I feel like can really expose certain parts of your game if you're not hitting it great.

And so I think it just shows for all the girls who played really well last week and the girls who were able to shoot good scores, good numbers, they were pretty on pointe with all parts of their game.

I feel really, really good about where my game is at, especially how I played last week. Yeah, shooting a low number today I feel like for the next three days it's definitely going to be a pretty low score that's going to come out on top on Sunday.

It's obviously very different from last week. Yeah, like I said, I feel like I'm hitting it great. Just need to trust my game, play aggressively, try and aim at pins when I can.

Q. How have you been able to keep turning the page? You said it last week, you did a really good job after Singapore turning the page. Last week was disappointing. How have you been able to turn the page so quickly mentally out here?

ALISON LEE: I feel like a lot of that comes from motivation, you know, with how I ended the season last year and where my mind and head has been at over the last few years.

Last year probably in the middle of the season I was just trying to cruise through, you know, place at the top when I can, didn't really expect too much out of my game.

I'm only 29, but I definitely feel like a little bit older out here. Like I'm definitely one of the veterans out here. This is my tenth year on tour.

But, yeah just get ting that little bit of a taste being in contention and close to winning at the end of last season, and especially last week, too, I think that's really motivated me to try and win out here.

That's what I want. I've been talking to my coach about this a little bit. He spoke to me after Sunday last week. He told me to just try not to have too much of like tunnel vision and just try and win once. Like I want to win at least once so badly.

Try and look at the bigger picture. There is a full season ahead left, and so instead of thinking about just winning one and being done, try and think, okay, I want to put myself in a position where I can win more than once.

So just trying to think like that, and, yeah, not get too ahead of myself. I think realistically, if I won once it will provide a lot of relief and like a lot of weight lifted off my shoulders.

At the same time, we move on to the next week so quickly. So, yeah, I'm going to just try and give myself as many opportunities and chances as I can in contention and be on the leaderboard. I feel really good about my game right now. Hopefully I can roll with this momentum into the rest of the season. Hopefully I can keep hitting the way I am and putting the way I am.

Q. Do you think the round today had anything to do with beating Megan in...

ALISON LEE: Yeah, we had a little practice round together. Megan is one of my good friends out here, so cool to see her win for the first time last year. We've had so many talks over the last couple years if we can do it. She's been up top quite a bit, and to see her win was super cool.

I've definitely been leaning on her a little bit when it comes to weeks where I feel like -- I feel a little down. Yeah, she's been such an inspiration. She's so fun to be around. Like I said, one of my closest friends. She keeps it really light and fun.

Even at times where we can be competitive, it's still fun.
