Q. Okay, here with Elizabeth Szokol after her 8-under round in the first round here at ShopRite. Incredible day today for you. Talk about how it went for you.
ELIZABETH SZOKOL: It was great. Just got off to a really good start, so that was pretty fun.
I hit it to about three feet on the first hole.
Made a 12-footer on the next, the par-5.
And then made a bunch of birdies.
Made a longer putt on No. 5, which was great.
Then just kept hitting the ball really good. Gave myself a lot of opportunities. Really solid day. I'm happy with it.
Q. Talk about your start. Was anything going through your head? Were you realizing how many birdies you were making in a row?
ELIZABETH SZOKOL: I was trying not to. I was trying to keep hitting good golf shots and rolling good putts. I think I did a pretty good job of that, which was fun.
I just hit the ball great and gave myself a lot of good looks, so it was a great day.
Q. I believe you only had 26 putts. Is that something you've been working on, something about the greens that you saw something today?
ELIZABETH SZOKOL: I would say I hit the ball very close, which helped a lot. I had a lot of three-, four-footers for birdie. I made a couple 10-, 12-footers, which was nice to see good in.
Just hit the ball really good. Hit a lot of fairways and had some wedges in, so a lot of good opportunities. Been working a lot on my tee shots and wedges, so saw that pay off today. Great to see the round come together.
Q. Just what's your reaction, feeling -- obviously still a long way to go -- but tied for the lead right now?
ELIZABETH SZOKOL: Happy to get off to a great start and really looking forward to the weekend, the next two days.
Lots of golf left. Really excited to see good golf and hard work paying off today and looking forward to the next two days.
Q. Usually you don't see the afternoon wave at the top of the leaderboard. You and the co-leader started in the afternoon. What were conditions like out there? Usually gets windier in the afternoon. Seems calm out there now.
ELIZABETH SZOKOL: It was a little bit windy early on in kind of the middle of the round. It was kind of up and down, but definitely calm towards the end of the day. Just kept hitting good golf shots and gave myself a lot of opportunities. Just played solid.
