Q. Charley, good round today. Tell us a little bit about it.
CHARLEY HULL: Yeah, I played pretty sold considering I didn't get here until Tuesday night and had to pull out of the pro-am yesterday because I felt sick.
So I didn't play the golf course. I had an early practice and managed to wing it round today. Yeah, I felt confident in my game and played pretty well.
Q. When you come into events like this having not played the golf course this time and coming off a little bit of a rest after the Asia swing, how do you get ready to go out there and attack it?
CHARLEY HULL: Well, I warmed up like for two hours this morning, just doing some practice because the greens are pretty slow in the UK at the minute, and these greens feel rapid, so it's just all about pace control.
Usually Tuesday, Wednesday you get a feel of the golf courses, the grasses. So I didn't really have that feel today, but I played well. I hit some very nice iron shots in. I got a new driver in the bag. Just kind of playing around and just feels pretty good.
Q. Is there anything about this course that you think particularly suits your game?
CHARLEY HULL: I like it. It's quite challenging off the tee. Like because you got to get it in the right positions, you're having some longer iron shots in. I just enjoy it. I think it's a very, very good golf course.
Q. How does a strong start here set you up for the rest of the week?
CHARLEY HULL: I'm just happy that I shot under par today to be fair with not playing the golf course, feeling poorly, and getting in late.
So just going out there is having fun. The atmosphere here this week feels pretty good. It's just nice to close these few events in Florida at the end of the year.
Q. With this being The ANNIKA, did you grow up watching her? Are there any memories you had with her?
CHARLEY HULL: Yeah, met her on the putting green at the British Open when I was nine years old. I holed a putt in front of her and she was like, oh, good putt. I was like, thanks. Yeah, so I was buzzing.
But she's always been one of my heros growing up. Her and Tiger Woods and Seve Ballesteros.
