GABY LOPEZ:
Q. All right, joining me today after the second round of The ANNIKA driven by Gainbridge at Pelican is Gaby Lopez. Really strong round out there. Could you just talk about what went well today?
GABY LOPEZ: Yeah, I felt that the front nine wasn't very fluid. I was struggling a little bit with the commitment and the decision making.
I don't know, I think on the back nine was much more comfortable. It's one of those days that you start swinging it well and all of a sudden you get momentum.
Yeah, we were pretty strong on making those putts as well.
Q. Yeah, five birdies on the back nine. Can you just talk about how you found your momentum and kept it going through some of those harder holes out here?
GABY LOPEZ: Yeah, I don't know, hit it to ten feet on 10 and then hit it to six feet and missed it. From there on honestly it was just inside 10 to 15 feet.
You know, got the speed of the greens right and I started giving myself comfortable numbers and swinging freely, which that's going to be the goal this week.
Q. You mentioned you have your coach in town this week. How do you feel like that's contributed to your performance this week?
GABY LOPEZ: Yeah, five weeks without looking and having a lesson with your coach is -- the swing can get a little funky.
Then he was here for the first half of the week and we did a great job adjusting and kind of battling those tendencies that we all have.
And, yeah, we found something, and that's me. When I find something, I kind of stick to it.
Q. You're obviously really passionate about growing the game of golf. Girls Golf ambassador, your foundation in Mexico. Talk about what that means to you to grow the game of golf and also play at an event like The ANNIKA?
GABY LOPEZ: Yeah, being a Girls Golf ambassador is a huge thing for me. I love giving back and sharing all the stress that I've put in so many years on professional golf and try to inspire the next girl's generation.
To me it's awesome, so yeah, this we're week earlier we had a webinar and we had a one-hour Zoom call with 60 girls and, it was cool to give them tips and try to make them feel professional before they turn professional or even when they're ten years old.
When you do things the proper way I feel it just takes to do things professionally to be a professional player.
