Q. All right, here with Gaby Lopez after the third round of The ANNIKA driven by Gainbridge at Pelican. 3-under 67 today. Just walk us through your round a little bit. A lot of birdies out there. How were things going?
GABY LOPEZ: Yeah, I think it was a solid round. I got hot on the front nine and made a couple mistakes on the back nine, but, you know, sometimes you get a he comfortable number and sometimes you don't.
At the end of the day it's all commitment. Really happy with the position and how I'm feeling out there on the golf course.
Q. You mentioned a few mistakes on the back nine. You rallied back with a couple birdies to end. How nice is that heading into tomorrow to have those kind of birdies on the back end?
GABY LOPEZ: Yeah, there is a ton of opportunities for birdie. There is a lot of wedge play. You got to be really smart because the false front can get you.
You can make a couple mistakes, but you just got to trust that birdies are going to come your way.
Q. Making a lot birdies out here this week, not just you but the field as well, what's the key to making birdies? Is it trusting lines? Hitting it close? What is it?
GABY LOPEZ: Yeah, I think the greens are in a position that next get really, really fast and it's sometimes harder to read when there is so much grain and so much speed going one way.
But at the end of the day if you read them well and you hit the right speed, then it's all a matter of being patient and letting them fall.
Q. For you I know making a lot of birdies is kind of what you do. How do you keep from getting frustrated when you do have those missteps?
GABY LOPEZ: Yeah, I'm an aggressive player so I'm okay with making a couple mistakes because I know that those are easy to clean up.
I think it's hard to make a lot of birdies, and to have that skill, to have that momentum with me, it's a matter of just kind of staying patient, trusting that one day everything is going to click.
Yeah, I think just trusting my game, trusting the process that I've done with my team. They've done amazing work with me. So, yeah, I'm just happy with how everything is evolving.
Q. Obviously the penultimate event of the year. It's been a long year. How gratifying is it to be come in and running into this kind of form not only this week but with next week on deck as well?
GABY LOPEZ: Yeah, for sure. After a long season it's always good to have some battery charged for the last couple two events. Basically one of my top two favorites of all season. It's great to be playing good towards the end.
So, yeah, I feel that at the end all the hard work that comes into the many hours I put in, it pays off and it's a matter of keep going, keep going, keep going and not kind of letting your emotions dictate by the score or the result.
Q. Obviously you're a role model for a lot of young girls in Mexico like Lorena was for you. To se someone like Annika invest in the game like she has, what lessons can you learn as a role model?
GABY LOPEZ: Yeah, I mean, for Lorena, it's all about experience. She said to me, hey, just let experience like kind of build into your career, into your character, into your personality.
I think it's about just keep learning about who you are and learning your game and learning about your mistakes. That's how you kind of step to the next level.
I feel that sometimes people are like, desperate to be world No. 1. Well, you have to be 100th, 50th, 20th, 1oth. It's a process. I think that process of enjoying myself during that and the person that I'm becoming is the one that I'm actually most proud of.
