THE MODERATOR: Okay, here with Caroline Inglis. Announced her retirement after this week. Can you just describe how you're feeling right now?
CAROLINE INGLIS: I think it's a mix of emotions. It's definitely bittersweet. Sad to go and be done after so long, so many years on LPGA Tour, but excited for the next step.
It's definitely the right decision for me. So it's bittersweet, it's tough, but hopefully in the long run it'll be good.
Q. When you finished putting out there and looked over and saw your family and friends there, what did that mean and what have they meant throughout your journey?
CAROLINE INGLIS: They've meant everything. I mean, like my husband just being there for me through everything has just meant a lot. And my college coach, she flew in all my family and friends. Elizabeth is watching, my physio. It's just awesome to have such amazing support, and I feel like it's just kind of how it's been through my whole career, so it was nice to have them there as well today.
Q. When you look back at your career, what do you think will stand out to you the most during your time on the LPGA Tour?
CAROLINE INGLIS: I think it's just the people for sure, the people I've met and will continue to stay in touch with and all the amazing places we've gotten to travel. These experiences that I've had are awesome and I'll always remember that.
Q. Can you talk about what's ahead and why you went that direction?
CAROLINE INGLIS: Well, my body is getting old, ready to be done, is the main reason. And then once I kind of started considering it I got offered a job with Oregon Golf Association so I'm going to join them.
I'm excited. I get to help out a little bit with the junior golfers and then do a little bit of like work with fundraising and stuff like that.
So I think it'll be a good transition. Still in golf but being able to give back and entering kind of the corporate world, which is a little bit terrifying, but we'll see.
Q. One last one. Can you describe maybe if it you remember that moment where you felt like it was time or you started considering retirement?
CAROLINE INGLIS: Yeah, I've had back injuries for a while, and I hurt it pretty badly again in like July or August. Hasn't gotten much better since then. In the last two months I started considering it seriously. Then when got offered the job I was like, okay, I think this is a door I need to step through. Like I think it's time. It felt right.
I differently feel at peace with it and good about it now.
Q. You had a nice appetizer to this moment on Friday with Elizabeth. Do you think that set you up emotionally to handle today maybe a little bit easier than you might have?
CAROLINE INGLIS: I think so. I think just like making the decision was of hardest thing emotionally for me. When Elizabeth finished on Friday and playing with our other friend Bri, and we were all just like crying and hugging each other.
It's just cool for Elizabeth. I'm so proud of her and everything she's accomplished. I told her, I hope you're proud of yourself as well. And I feel the same way. We may not always accomplish all the things we wanted to but we're out here and at the end of the day we're with the 150, 200 best women golfers in the world so it's pretty cool.
Q. For you guys obviously Elizabeth, Bri, to have such a strong group of friends out here, what has it meant to you to be able to build those relationships as an LPGA Tour athlete?
CAROLINE INGLIS: I literally don't think I could have done it without such great friends and support system. It would be so boring and lonely. So it's just awesome to have people to lean on and know they're there to listen and they always have your back.
Q. When you look back on this time in your life what's a word or thought that you'll have when you look back at your time as an LPGA athlete?
CAROLINE INGLIS: I think even this week I've just felt I would say gratitude. Just so grateful for all the people I've met, like I said, the places I got to go, the experiences.
It's just such a cool job. When you're in it I don't think you always realize, oh, my gosh I'm playing golf for money and traveling the world. So I'm just grateful that I got to experience all that and I'm only almost 32.
Yeah, I just feel so lucky.
Q. Finally, obviously Elizabeth is standing behind me, Tampa native. What are you going to do to celebrate this moment and maybe Bri and some others going to do to celebrate this moment for both of you. I mean, PG.
CAROLINE INGLIS: I'm going to have a spritz for sure and have some good food. I think Elizabeth is making us dinner and just relax, hang out, kick our feet up, drink, hang out.
It'll be kind of nice to have a little bit of down time after the emotional roller coaster. Then I get to go -- speaking of really cool experiences, I getting to play in the Pebble Beach pro-am next week and my husband is coming with me and that's pretty cool as well.
Q. The Standard Portland Classic has been such a big part of your journey. Can we expect to see you out there?
CAROLINE INGLIS: Of course. Of course.
Q. What can you say about having that tournament and like you being involved?
CAROLINE INGLIS: It's always so fun. Like when I made the hole-in-one there what was it like, four, five years ago. I'll always remember that moment in my career. The support and the fans out there. And I think Portland is such a cool city, so I hope that event can continue and just elevate the event as well, that people keep wanting to come back.
But I'll definitely be out there. Maybe my boss, shoutout to Rick, will let me play in it next year if I get in. We'll see.
THE MODERATOR: Thank you so much. Congrats.
CAROLINE INGLIS: Thank you.
