Q. Joining me after the final round of The ANNIKA presented by Gainbridge at Pelican by Lucy Li. Really, really great rounds this week. Talk about the experience.
LUCY LI: Yeah, I mean, it was really nice to play some good golf and be in contention. I kind of had some struggles this year, so it was really nice to come in and play some good golf.
I honestly came into this week with almost no confidence and I was really tired from being sick the last two weeks, so I just tried to make my goal being to have fun this week, and so it was nice to come through with three good rounds at the end.
Q. Currently projected to have moved into the field for CME next week. Are you looking forward to that and what does it mean to have played your way in?
LUCY LI: Yeah, I haven't seen that yet, but that's what I heard. I am really excited. That was the goal coming into this week, was to try to make it to next week, and so I'm really proud of myself if I'm able to be there.
Q. How did your confidence build back up as the week went along?
LUCY LI: Yeah, I don't know. I mean, I was playing good golf going into Asia. I played well in Hawai'i, China, Korea. Just didn't finish that great.
So I was feeling good about my game and then just getting really sick in Malaysia I think totally just torched my confidence. Being tired, I think I wasn't hitting it that good. This course is really tricky if you're not hitting it that great.
So I wasn't that confident in my ball striking, but getting some rest and hitting the ball good the last four days has been huge.
Q. Was there a point during these four days where you looked at the leaderboard and said, you know what? Maybe I have a chance to get to Naples?
LUCY LI: Yeah, after the second round I definitely knew that I had a chance if I continued to play well. But like I said, my goal this week was to stay present on every shot and to have fun.
I think I did a really good job of that this week and so hopefully keep that going forward.
