Q. Six birdies, bogey-free. How do you feel after your first day in Hawaii?
STACY LEWIS: It was awesome. The wind was really blowing out there at times, especially when we started today, so just to shoot bogey-free, and I played really solid, so just obviously really happy with it.
Q. How much does the windy conditions factor into how you prepare for Kapolei?
STACY LEWIS: You know, there is a little bit of unknown because we hadn't really played this golf course, so you don't really know how the wind is going to affect it, how certain holes are going to play.
So I just kind of took it for what it was and took it for every shot that I had and tried to do the best I could. There are times when you're in the rough and it's actually better. You can control spin and stuff easier.
So it was good.
Q. Three birdies on the front; three birdies on the back nine for you. So overall, just how consistent were you feeling out there?
STACY LEWIS: I just did a good job managing it. I really put myself in good places when I couldn't get close to the hole. Hit it where I had good angles to get up and down and things like that.
You know, would've liked to probably driven it a little better, but it's blowing sideways. There is only so much you can do.
I just been playing good golf, and that's what I just keep telling myself in the back of my head and just keep working on the little things.
I've had some really good streaks of golf I would say the last couple weeks, so just trying to clean rounds up.
Bogey-free was really good today.
Q. You have had some impressive streaks recently. How confident are you feeling in your game?
STACY LEWIS: It's just I've got some confidence back in the putter more than anything. Just knowing you don't have to hit it to five feet every time to make birdie. I can make some 15- to 20-footers when I need to and get up and down when I need to. The short game has been there.
So it's really just confidence with the putter. I've been hitting it good for a while now. It's just everything is starting to come together.
Q. So when you have the putter on fire, I've heard tat this course is -- and I've seen it -- it's more of a second-shot golf course. Would you tend to agree?
STACY LEWIS: 100%. There is a lot of room in the fairways, and the fairways get smaller when it gets windy like this, so you kind of see why the course is designed the way it is just judging by the way the wind played today.
So it just -- I think it favors into my game. I love the wind. I love kind of creating golf shots and seeing shots instead of worrying about your golf swing. I seem to do well over here.
Q. Does it help to be in paradise when you're playing so well?
STACY LEWIS: It is, and I'm without kid this week, so I'm really on vacation.
Q. Oh.
STACY LEWIS: So, I don't know what to do with myself at the end of the day, but it is, it's fun being over here. We're glad to be playing this year.
