Quick Quotes

Q. Career day for you. I know a disappointing way to end. Take me through what was going so well in this round.

WEI-LING HSU: I think I'm doing very good job on my mind actually, because yesterday was really windy and there is a lot of shot -- I aim where I want to aim, but my swing doesn't swing like where I want to swing. So the ball is kind of not as pure.

But today I kind of -- I learned from that yesterday, so I kind of just keep up my playing and just trying to hit a pure shot.

My putting has been very well today and a lot of drop down to the cup, especially on like 17. On back of the green it's like 13 pace. How many foot was that?

Q. Yeah.

WEI-LING HSU: 20-footer. Made that long putt for eagle. I mean, it was just amazing one, so overall I'm -- yeah, you can't say anything about this round. It definitely have something that I can improve but, hey, 9-under, you don't have that score every day.

Q. This front nine you really got off to a hot start. You had four consecutive birdies from 6 through 9.

WEI-LING HSU: Yes.

Q. You made the turn with a 30. What was going so well and when did you realize that the momentum would start picking up for you?

WEI-LING HSU: I know this course that everyone can shot very low, and I believe I can do it, too.

So I didn't really think about that much, especially when I make a turn with 6-under. Actually there is a couple birdie chance when I make a turn but I didn't make that putt.

But it's just a little bit more like, Hey, focus. Don't think about like how low or how high I shot and I need a break that, my record. Because my record was 8-under and I was like, Okay, just be patient and then just give myself a chance to break that.

Q. And you kept it going, especially that eagle you mentioned earlier on No. 17. Walk us through that eagle. We haven't seen a lot of eagles on that par-5.

WEI-LING HSU: Yeah, it was like front nine there is two -- I mean, one par-5, which is No. 7, and that's -- they moved the tee further front and I was able to reach the green. I hit a good shot. Had a very good number on that one.

So on 17 I kind of remind myself of the shot on 7, so I got a very good distant and the club I really trusting.

So I just had a -- I think 210 to the front, which is like -- no, 200 to front and 210 to the pin, and then had a good my 4-woods into the green and it rolls a little bit further to the top and I made that 20-footer putting.

Q. You've got the rest of the afternoon to kind of chill and reset for tomorrow. With a round like this, what does this do for your confidence heading into the final day here in Hawaii?

WEI-LING HSU: You know, we're playing fast pace of play, and we got all afternoon. You can kind of relax because you just shot 9-under. You don't have to worry about too much.

But there is something that my driver didn't go the way I really wanted to, so I'm -- I think I'm just going to practice a little bit driver and then just relax and have a nice drink. Not beer, but more like bubble tea.

Q. Did you come out this morning wanting to be more aggressive and come out and attack the course?

WEI-LING HSU: No, not really. Because like I said, there is 100 girl that can shoot really low on this course. I definitely want to shot like 5- or 6-under.

I didn't really back nine, but I thought I can expect more tomorrow.
