Q. All right, here with Polly Mack. Polly, welcome to your second time as you just told me to Hawai'i. What's it like to be back at the LOTTE Championship, and how do you assess your first day with this wind?
POLLY MACK: I love being here. It's just an unbelievable -- it's hard to call it work here, right? It feels like a long vacation with a little bit of work thrown in there. Yeah, it's just a good vibe here and it's hard not to be happy out here. I'm enjoying it.
And, yeah, I had a good day. It was pretty calm the first nine so that helped. And then a little bit of wind on the back nine, but honestly we just kind of kept it easy; had good lines on the course, yeah.
Q. Take me through those three birdies on your front nine, especially when the winds weren't as hectic out there. They didn't pick up quite as much as they're going right now. How much did you take advantage of the calmer conditions in your morning?
POLLY MACK: I tried to take advantage as much as I could, and I knew it was going to get harder on the back nine once the wind picks up.
So, yeah, just hit good drives out there. This is probably one of the courses we play on the LPGA that I hit most drives. I usually have to hit 2-irons or 3-woods. I can really take advantage of my distance here from the tee which is fun.
Then just a lot of the wedges in it. Honestly, wedges are get is closer and tighter. I've been working a lot in my off time in the last four weeks on my wedges and distance control so that's showing off.
It's nice to see that. Eventually the putts have to drop, right, sooner or later. For us it was on the third hole, fourth hole, fifth hole. Fifth hole I was on the green with the second so that helped, too.
And, yeah.
Q. You kind of answered my question for me. As one of the longest hitters on Tour how much does your distance help you?
POLLY MACK: Here, a lot I want to say. I mean, just one of my players that I played with today said, you had only wedges in. I'm like, okay, not only, but a lot. As long as those wedge distance control is working out, can get good out there. (Laughter.)
Q. Obviously coming down the home stretch here of the season. What was the game plan for you coming into this week without thinking too much about the Race to CME Globe?
POLLY MACK: Right, kind of having fun out here, just enjoying the moment. I've been in a really good place lately. I've been playing well and kind of just take that momentum with me.
I think we did pretty well today. Hopefully we can keep that going in the next couple days. So, yeah.
Q. And you said, this is your second experience here at Hoakalei. Just in general with the conditions the way they are, do you remember anything about kind of the way you played or attacked this course last year that you're bringing and seeing in person now with a second round ahead of us?
POLLY MACK: It can look a little scary, but honestly if you play it in calm conditions out here it's a pretty wide open course. So kind of just having to -- like I have to remind myself, okay, it's wide open on the good miss side, and just trusting the lines with the wind. Then it plays pretty self-explanatory.
