Q. All right, joining me today after the first round of the LOTTE Championship is Allisen Corpuz. Allisen, you had a great birdie run coming down the stretch. Can you just talk us through that a little bit?
ALLISEN CORPUZ: Yeah, absolutely. I felt like I played pretty solid through the front nine; just couldn't get any putts to drop. Just made three kind of longer ones in a row on I believe 13, 14, 15 -- sorry, 14, 15, 16 and just got lucky with a chip-in on 18 as well.
Really excited heading into tomorrow and happy with the round today.
Q. It got a bit windy out there today with some pretty high gusts. Do you feel like experience playing island golf helps at all?
ALLISEN CORPUZ: Yeah, absolutely. I think any time you're in the wind you almost have to give it a little more than you think. You're not just aiming straight at the flag. You're taking it a little left or a little right and kind of letting the ball fall down.
So definitely helps to feel a little more comfortable in those conditions.
Q. Just how does it feel to be back in Hawai'i to play in the LOTTE?
ALLISEN CORPUZ: Yeah, it's so much fun being back home. I'm sleeping in my own bed tonight. I had family and friends out watching me today. So it's really special to come back and feel a lot of the local support.
Q. The way you finished, was there a change from the front nine to the back nine for you?
ALLISEN CORPUZ: Yeah, honestly not really. I feel like I've been getting a little better the past few months and just kind of figuring things out. It's felt like my game has been coming around so, yeah, felt like I played really solid on the front; just wasn't really making the putts. Then got on a bit of a run on the back nine.
Q. On the final hole, on your approach shot, it looked like it was maybe going to stick on the green and dribbled off into that pretty thick rough. What was going through mind as you watched that and set up for the flop shot?
ALLISEN CORPUZ: Yeah, honestly, walking up to it, we thought it was just in the fairway. We didn't realize it had gone into the rough. Just trickled off the back, like you said.
Then it was just one of those, like, well, I've been playing well; let's try to make up and down. Asked Jay how he would play it. I wasn't sure what to do. He is like, I think there is still space to get underneath it. Just hit it like a bunker shot, and it came out perfect.
Q. You were one of five local girls in the field today. I think that's more than has been here at LOTTE the last few years. What can you say about being among that group of five?
ALLISEN CORPUZ: Yeah, it's so special just to see how strong Hawaii Golf has been. I grew up playing junior golf with Mariel, so it's extra special to have her on Tour with me this year, and Alexa and Honorine and up and up coming juniors as well. It's just great to see all the Hawai'i girls playing this week. I love to see the trend of having more girls out on tour.
