Press Conference

THE MODERATOR: Here with 2021 HSBC Woman's World champion Hyo Joo Kim. Obviously a place, we talked about it all week, obviously a place that you like to play. Played well today, 5-under 67. What was working so well for you in these conditions?

HYO JOO KIM: So the weather wasn't fantastic today, but I managed to get over that and just focus on playing. So that's how I kept to the game and managed to score that round.

THE MODERATOR: Had a few birdies on the card. I mean, back-to-back birdies on 13 and 14. Just tell me about those two birdies.

HYO JOO KIM: So for the 13, it was a shot par-5, so I managed to get birdie for that one. And the second one, I hit good second shot. And that's how I managed to get it into a birdie shot.

THE MODERATOR: Your last birdie of the day was on 17. I know the par-3s can be a little tricky out here. You don't see a lot of birdies on par-3s. What did you do on that hole?

HYO JOO KIM: So yesterday was a little bit difficult, challenging for me on that hole. But today the change of the pin hole actually helped me get the putt in.

THE MODERATOR: You're in contention heading into the weekend. I know that this is a place that you've won before, but it's also Asia's major, as they call it. How special is this event to you, and how special is it to you to be able to be in contention and have a chance to win another weekend?

HYO JOO KIM: So I had confidence having won at this course once, but I'm always focused on making myself better. So I'm looking forward to challenging myself the next two days to get a better performance than what I have so far already.
