Quick Quotes

Q. Here with Haeran after her first round at the Evian Championship. Solid round today. Just talk a little bit about how it went out there.

HAERAN RYU: I think today pin location is a little bit hard, and so tricky to hit a second shot.

But today my iron shot really good and I make so many birdie chance on the green.

But first nine hole I make birdie chance, but it's really good, but on the back nine I miss a lot of putts.

But I don't make some bogey today, bogey-free round in the first round on a major course and I'm so proud of myself.

Q. How do you prep for a major week like this? How does that look different than other tournaments?

HAERAN RYU: Major tournament is always stressful for shots because the rough is so long and green is so tricky.

But this week my Korean coach come to here, and I start to practice on the last Sunday with my coach. Makes me more comfortable for my shots.

Yeah, this is so good for this week, yeah.

Q. This is your second time playing here?

HAERAN RYU: No. It's not Evian Championship, but 2015 Evian Junior Championship first time here. My second Evian at 2018 as amateur.

Q. Awesome.

HAERAN RYU: This is my fourth Evian Championship.

Q. What do you like about this course? What have you learned playing it that many times?

HAERAN RYU: This course is so important keeping fairway to driver shots. But today is not good, but my iron shot more accurate than my driver and I make a lot of birdie.

Here greenside rough is so tricky to chipping, but yeah, more practice before.

Q. Sounds like you've come to France a few times. What do you like about coming to France? Any food?

HAERAN RYU: France is sometimes come to rain, but sunny days the sky is so beautiful and the bread is so good. I like the croissant here.
