Quick Quotes

Q. Okay, here with Jasmine Koo after her first round at The Chevron Championship. Just talk about how your game felt out there today.

JASMINE KOO: Yeah, my game felt really good today. I think I did a really good job staying patient. There were some shots that I didn't really like, but overall stayed really patient. Caddie helped with that. Made some smart decisions coming in.

Q. Second time at this major. What takeaways did you have from last year that you're applying to this year's edition?

JASMINE KOO: I think one thing is that I don't have to have my A+ game to perform out here. I think that's really helped me, because last year I was surprised with kind of like what the cut line score was, kind of how reachable the field was, and just like that realization made me more calm today.

I wasn't as nervous, as rushed to get something going.

Q. Is there anything in particular you did to prepare special for this week? You have school, a lot of other things going on. Anything additional you did different?

JASMINE KOO: No, not really. I worked on a lot of chipping. I was like, maybe I'll miss more greens since it's a major course.

Q. I saw your assistant coach is out here too.

JASMINE KOO: Yeah.

Q. What's the support been like this year playing here?

JASMINE KOO: Yeah, the support has been great. My agent is out here, too, Tyler. With Beth out here, too, after a three putt she'll be like, it's okay. When you come back you'll be in speed jail, but it's okay. Just focus on the next hole.

Kind of like that relieves the pressure and makes everything very happy.

Q. Obviously Beth knows what it's like to play in those kind of conditions, this kind of environment. Did she or does she give you any advice when you're looking at these high level tournaments you're getting to play in?

JASMINE KOO: I think the advice she gives us isn't very -- what the public would think it is. I think it's mostly guidance, what do I need to know or how do I access this LPGA portal, just like the little nitty stuff like that.

I think she's helped a lot. She's helped also kind of just being more comfortable around like the LPGA players. Just be like, hey, I was in their shoes too. I mean, you're around me every day. Why are you nervous?

Q. How do you prepare yourself and how do you have confidence when you're on such a big stage playing against people you may have watched on TV or really admire?

JASMINE KOO: Yeah, I think it's because my college career has been pretty successful so far, and I think that the best college players make the best professional players.

So just knowing that I have what it takes to stand on this stage, it might not be now, but eventually it will be, that kind of keeps my confidence up for sure.

Q. LPGA announced a new program this year, the Elite Amateur Pathway. Have six points already which is an awesome start with such a brand new program. What is that opportunity to earn LPGA membership while still in college and still playing in amateur events mean to you?

JASMINE KOO: Yeah, I think that's really helpful especially because the timing of Q-School in relation to the college season.

I think it's really hard to get those 20 points within the three years. It's something that with a really good season, like Lottie is getting really close, it's very beneficial just to have that and not worry about Q-School and just have your card. It's another motivating factor in college. I think that's it, yeah.

Q. Obviously every time you get to play in an LPGA event I am sure earning points is in the back of your mind. How do you put that away and focus on the task at hand?

JASMINE KOO: Honestly, there are so many things to think about that that's not on your mind really. Yeah.

Q. And I was going to ask, too, USC got picked to go for -- the regional show was yesterday. Were you watching? What were you doing during that time?

JASMINE KOO: Yeah, so we're going to Kentucky for regionals, and when that regionals got picked I texted into our team group chat and I was like, we have to go to KFC. We have to go to KFC. So that's basically it. Course looks good. Fits our team, so...
