Quick Quotes

Q. All right, here with Minjee Lee after the second round of The Chevron Championship. Solid round to be near the top. What went well for you?

MINJEE LEE: I started really well. The front nine I had four birdies and turned in 4-under.

So, yeah, that was nice. Gave myself some nice birdie opportunities. Holed a bomb on one the holes. I was kind of a nice roll.

But I actually made up and down for bogey on 18 and I hit it in the water. I thought it was a good up and down. After that I kind of was grinding just to make pars.

So, yeah, it was just a little bit tougher with the wind I think coming in.

Q. The conditions from today compared to yesterday, especially with the rain, fog, everything we got?

MINJEE LEE: Yeah, I mean, had a really early wakeup call. I think I'm running out of steam now, but overall the conditions were pretty nice. We pretty much played in no wind for ten holes and then like the afternoon it kind of -- well, my back nine kind of picked up a little bit.

But it was pretty ideal conditions to score. There are some tougher -- like 9 is a little longer. 10 obviously the drive is demanding. Few holes coming in that are quite demanding.

Yeah, just try to have a solid score through those he'll. Yeah, finished at 3-under so pretty happy where I'm at.

Q. Being a major champion, how do you go into the weekend? What's your approach at this standpoint in a major championship?

MINJEE LEE: I just want to play with freedom, so for me, I just want to see my shots really clearly. If it stays this soft I think I could be pretty aggressive on the holes where I can hit shorter clubs.

So I think just try and take advantage of those opportunities and I think they're probably going to try and make it a little bit harder come the weekend because it is a major championship. I think just try and play smart, be patient when I have to be.

Just try and take my opportunities when I get them.

Q. How early did you have to wake up in morning?

MINJEE LEE: It was in the 4s so pretty early.

Q. You consider yourself a morning person?

MINJEE LEE: I'm actually not bad. Just don't get me at 4:30. Then you'll be okay.

Q. As you know Min Woo won in Houston about a month ago and sent out a congratulatory message through The Chevron Championship socials. Can you feel any added cheers in the fans since his win here in Texas?

MINJEE LEE: I get comments here and there. It's very random. Oh, your brother won in Houston. I don't know, I'm like, I know. Then I try to take it as motivation.

But, no, it's nice. I have quite great support wherever I go, and it's nice to have a little extra especially at a major championship.
