Quick Quotes

Q. Another solid day out here; under-par score. What went well for you out there today?

GABRIELA RUFFELS: Yeah, it was good. I kind of struggled early. I was 1-over early and then I made a couple birdies coming in.

I thought I just struck it really well. Hit it really good. Just a little -- I just need to work on my lag putting a little bit. It was kind of off with the speed.

Overall drove it well and hit it pretty good.

Q. Are there any birdies that stood out to you?

GABRIELA RUFFELS: I thought my birdie on, what was it, 14, the long putt. I was even at the time and I just bogeyed I think it was 12 -- no, no, sorry.

I birdied 13, made a long putt. I thought that was crucial.

Just kind of finished the back nine on a good note and then I was pretty consistent coming in.

I thought that was a pretty big birdie.

Q. What positives will you carry into the weekend?

GABRIELA RUFFELS: Yeah, feel like I'm hitting it well. Feel like I'm playing well, hitting my lines, and enjoying the time out here with my caddie.

Just, yeah, keep going. I feel like every day I'm learning a little bit more about this course and getting more comfortable out here, so, yeah, I'm excited for the weekend.

Q. What have you learned about kind of managing expectations? I feel like a lot of top players come out and have a lot expectations for themselves. You don't seem like a player that has a lot of expectations for yourself. How have you learned to manage that?

GABRIELA RUFFELS: Yeah, I mean, I have expectations, and it's just learning to manage that is the big thing.

It's just you can have expectations, but you can't really control the outcome. You just, you know, if you can look at yourself in the mirror day by day and know you've done your best, that's all you can do.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I think about.

Q. Having such a local connection here, do you have a lot of extra people out here supporting you? If so, what's that like?

GABRIELA RUFFELS: Yeah, I do. My parents are members at Toscana Country Club and I practice there a lot. My mom has a lot of friends there and I've been able to make some friends there as well.

They've all been coming out, which is really cool. Nice to have some local support. I mean, this is the first year with fans and really feeling it out here, so it's awesome.

Q. As a player that I'm sure grew up watching this event, any of these Chevron Championships that really stick out to you? Any shots you really remember?

GABRIELA RUFFELS: Probably that finishing stretch on the back nine. So probably 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 are really the famous holes. I feel like those are the toughest, too.

And 6; 6 is a good hole. Yeah, we'll miss it here.
