Quick Quotes

Q. Let's start at the end here. I was watching this eagle chip-in from the fairway. Can you take us through the shot?

STEPHANIE KYRIACOU: Sure. I mean, I'd say it was -- I forget how far. I had 89 meters, so yeah, my caddie was just like, come on, you've got one more shot, try and stick it in there. I was just trying to hit it close, to be honest, and then it went in.

Q. What club?

STEPHANIE KYRIACOU: 54-degree.

Q. When you saw it go in, what was your thoughts? What did you hear? Tell us about the experience.

STEPHANIE KYRIACOU: Yeah, I was a little bit shocked to be honest. I've never had a hole-out in a professional tournament, so I guess that was pretty cool.

Yeah, it was great.

Q. Even before that, you were having a pretty solid round, so how great was it to cap off the round with that and just overall give us a little recap of the day.

STEPHANIE KYRIACOU: Yeah, I played pretty solid today. I made a few good up-and-downs, holed a couple long putts, stuck a few close. Today overall was just a good day of golf.

The course is, I think, pretty hard and it's long, so I think you need just to be patient out here, and pars on most holes are actually good out here. Yeah, I'm really happy with how I played.

Q. Are you especially happy given you had some delays today, some maybe tougher conditions?

STEPHANIE KYRIACOU: Yeah, I guess so. I mean, the delay might have killed a bit of momentum, but it wasn't too long. But yeah, it was fine.

Q. Did the conditions change at all on the course after the rain, before the rain?

STEPHANIE KYRIACOU: I'd say it got a little bit softer on the greens, which was nice, but yeah, it only kind of rained for about four or five holes for us, and then it got called off, and then it didn't rain for the rest, so I guess we were kind of lucky with what the weather was predicting. We kind of got away with it a little bit.

Q. Did you adjust before or after the delay?

STEPHANIE KYRIACOU: Not really. Got some food. That's about it.

Q. I mean in your game before the --

STEPHANIE KYRIACOU: Oh, no. I was playing well before the delay, so I didn't have any reason to kind of change my game or how I was playing, like my approach and stuff. Yeah, just kind of went back out there and tried to pick up where we left off.

Q. Can you just sort of give us a recap of how the season has been for you so far, and how confident, excited, whatever, you feel coming into the first major of the year?

STEPHANIE KYRIACOU: Mm-hmm. This year I think for me has been a bit of a slow start. Last year was a bit tough. I learnt a lot about traveling in America, playing on the LPGA. In the off-season I kind of like took that away with me and worked hard on the stuff I needed to, so I think just getting back into the swing of things, back into tournament golf and all that has been good, but yeah, it's been a bit slow for me, so it's nice to see some good results here and there. Yeah, it's only day one, so hopefully the rest of the week is as good as today.
