Q. All right, joined by Jasmine after her second round at the JM Eagle LA Championship presented by Plastpro. 1-under round today. A little up and down; some bogeys and birdies. Coming off a very good round yesterday. Just talk about the past two days, how the game has been feeling.
JASMINE SUWANNAPURA: Starting yesterday and today I just change to a new iron set, like completely I change from Titleist to Srixon. I feel like I been struggle with my iron the last two years, barely hit any greens, so I just look back and memories like when I first win on the Tour, 2018, 2019 and I'm using Srixon. So I'm like let's go back to what I used to play and play good and then go from there.
So I call the Srixon and say like, oh, can you build me one? So like they build me one and then ship it to here. I get to play first day on Tuesday so today was only third day old, three days old for the iron. So pretty new and definitely working.
So I've been hitting a lot of green these two days, a lot of birdie opportunity more than any round last two years. It's been big different.
Q. The irons just got here this week then?
JASMINE SUWANNAPURA: Yeah. Just got here Monday and I had a chance to look at it and play with it on Tuesday.
Q. And then did you model those off some irons that you used in Srixon in the past?
JASMINE SUWANNAPURA: Oh, yeah I did bring my old set here. Like, here you want to take a look at this? Apparently the shaft that I used back then they don't make it anymore, so definitely the new shaft that I play today was a little bit heavier, a different brand. But it's still the result tells all.
Q. So does that give you a little bit more comfortability and confidence on the course when you're looking down maybe at a club that you like a lot more?
JASMINE SUWANNAPURA: Uh-huh, oh, yeah. It's a big different. Because when thing is not clear and you kind of scared you're going missing left or right, it's just really, really mental. And then once I get that out of the picture and focus and very comfortable with the irons it came out pretty straight.
Q. And then with new irons sometimes it might be tough with distance control and making sure you're aligned with that, especially on a course like this week where it's a elevated and distances are so tricky. How have you been able to find that line and just be so dialed in on that?
JASMINE SUWANNAPURA: If I remember, we only adjust one iron, really just make it a little bit flatter. Like half a degree flatter. Other than that than we hit it on TrackMan; numbers are almost identical. Maybe a yard more or less.
So with that and I'm a feel player, so I get to play in a the pro-am day and my pro-am day our group shot 7-under for nine holes. So I mean, I can tell that the number was right and for nine holes I get to play with it. Feeling pretty good.
Q. And then last one: Obviously playing really well. Inside the Top 5 right now; likely top 10 going into the weekend. How does it feel to be in the hunt, to be in contention again?
JASMINE SUWANNAPURA: Hungry. Because I did not play golf like this for the last two years. Not even one day come close to the feeling of golf round yesterday. Not even close.
So it's been really fun two rounds.
