Melanie Green

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, pleased to be joined by Melanie Green after her second round at the JM Eagle LA Championship presented by Plastpro. 4-under round today. Hitting a lot of greens and a lot of fairways out there. Talk a little bit about your day today and maybe a little bit about yesterday as well. Looked pretty similar out there.

MELANIE GREEN: Yeah, no, boils down to lots of fairways, lots of greens. I had asked a few girls that had come in yesterday because I was late and they had played. I was like, all right, what's the secret? They both said, hit a lot greens. I was like, all right, I'll try to do that.

So yeah, no it's been good. Caddie and I've been picking really good numbers and been able to execute so it's been a lot of fun.

Q. And talk a little bit about that golf course as well. A lot of elevation changes out there, a lot of ups and downs. How important is it pre-week to get those numbers dialed in before heading into the tournament days?

MELANIE GREEN: Yeah, yeah, they do pretty good job of putting those numbers and stuff like that in the books. Yeah, no, double checking with the range finders and all that stuff is really important.

But, yeah, no, yesterday there was a lot of wind like first few holes that I was out there. I was like, oh, gosh if it's going be like this all day it's going to be a very tough golf course.

Luckily that died down. Yeah, no, so being able to I guess adjust with all the elevation changes definitely important, because if you're not, you're going to struggle.

Q. Getting close to a handful of events out here on the LPGA Tour now. Speak to the comfortability now getting the process of everything on and how that's affecting the play a little bit.

MELANIE GREEN: Right, totally, 100%. I think I'm kind of like that in every stage. Junior college, and then college, college and then Epson, Epson and now here, right? It's just little jumps and little things that you just kind of got to adjust?

People have asked me what's the difference between Epson and LPGA, and I'm like, honestly, everything is the same except the LPGA is just humongous. Everything is a little bit bigger.

So, yeah, no, there is definitely an adjustment period. I think even the people that you surround yourself with out here, definitely important. Obviously I'm seeing a lot more new faces than I did last year.

So just making sure that I find people and making sure that each week, even though I'm really far away from home, trying to make it feel like a little bit more home.

Yeah, no, comfortability is definitely a big factor for sure.

Q. Right now near the top of the leaderboard; currently sitting in fourth. It's not a place that you're unfamiliar with, especially on Epson Tour. Have a few wins out there. How nice is it to be in the mix heading into this weekend maybe for the first time on the LPGA and just how excited are you?

MELANIE GREEN: Yeah, no, I mean, I'm really excited. I mean, I don't think anybody would not want to be in this position, right?

So, yeah, no, I'm really excited that I'm playing solid golf, you know, so I would like to obviously see where it takes me and I'm excited for the weekend, that's for sure.

Q. Your parents are here this week. I think you mentioned it's their first time out on the LPGA watching you.

MELANIE GREEN: Yeah.

Q. How much fun has it been to have them here and that extra sense of comfortability out here this week?

MELANIE GREEN: Yeah, totally. It's been a blast. The more people you have out here that kind of remind you of home the better. Yeah, no, I think they're having a blast. And, yeah, no, luckily the weather is good. It's a little cold where they're from right now. So, yeah, no, it's good to see some familiar faces.
