Quick Quotes

Q. Not as low as you wanted, but grounded out an even-par round out there today. Tell me about your day.

ALISON LEE: Honestly, I hit it great. I just couldn't get the ball to go in the hole. I just couldn't make some putts. I had a lot of good looks all day, but yeah, I just couldn't seem to read the green properly, which is a little disappointing, but you could expect that on these type of greens, on poa annua greens.

Yeah, hopefully I can just keep giving myself chances because that's how it's going to be out here. You can't really make every putt, and it's a little tough around the greens. I'm happy I battled back to even par. It always feels good to end on a birdie. Yeah, I'm happy to play on the weekend.

Q. Tell me about that birdie on 9. That hole is challenging the way the green is and kind of slopes off the back there.

ALISON LEE: Yeah, that's a tough hole. You definitely need to play a little bit more strategically like with the pin on the front right, try and aim a little more left off the tee. The greens is pretty firm, so just try and land it just short of the green, and thankfully I got a really good hop because sometimes that's how it is out here. With these greens, they're kind of firm, and the fringe around it is pretty soft, so if you're going to play for that, like a little run-up on the green, you do have to be a little lucky, so I got a little nice kick, and yeah, had a good like 10-footer for birdie.

Yeah, like I said, I'm in a good mode.

Q. You're going to probably be in the mix heading into the weekend. What will you take from these first two days? You played some solid golf out there.

ALISON LEE: Yeah, I think the key for me is just hit fairways and try and make a few more putts and try and avoid mistakes. That's how it is out here. The girl who wins at the end of the week is the one who makes the least amount of mistakes and makes the most putts.

Yeah, hopefully can figure out these greens tomorrow. I didn't figure them out today. But yeah, just try and be a little more -- probably take a little more time around the greens and try and analyze all the break and stuff like that because it is a little challenging.

Q. Finally, we're standing next to the putting green. When you go and try to practice something like that and things just aren't falling, what are you really working on? Are you just trying to read whatever the putting green is giving you? What's going through your head?

ALISON LEE: I would say it just depends. Everywhere we go, it's so different. I would say for me personally, my speed has been pretty good, so it's not too much -- it was just kind of reading the green properly. If I'm going to be practicing a little bit on the putting green, it'll be just trying to feel the break, and if there's something that I don't see and the ball moves a certain way, just trying to pay close attention to that stuff.

I play pretty fast. I do tend to rush, and especially under pressure obviously I rush even more. Yeah, this weekend hopefully I can take a little more time around the greens and a few more putts will drop.
