Quick Quotes

Q. Here now with Jeeno Thitikul after her first round at the Mizuho Americas Open. Bogey-free; 8 under. Just what was working so well?

JEENO THITIKUL: Yeah, I think my putter working well, better than Chevron week. I mean, been struggling with the putter on the Chevron week, final. But it's just not me. Everyone, I think the green was so tough on that week.

We're here, hit it good, too, and also making the putts. Also get a lucky draw on the morning because it's not really windy had the morning.

Q. You took the week off last week after Chevron. What did you learn, take away from Chevron to work on, improve on prior to this week?

JEENO THITIKUL: I definitely kind of stress about my putting on week off. I found out I have been doing good. I have -- you know, like I had a good stroke but just didn't drop in, so I just trying to make like hand-eye coordination is right and the speed to matching the line. So that's pretty much it.

Because I don't want to overthinking and then kind of, you know, confusing things up around.

Q. What do you like about Liberty National? How does it suit your strengths?

JEENO THITIKUL: Food. Ferry, food. Just fancy New York. You know, really good views here. Good condition course as well. I think you can play here as a major for sure oops the course condition-wise is nice. So smooth. The green, it's pretty, you know, in a good shape.

Q. What kind of food are we getting?

JEENO THITIKUL: Oh, I get a lot. I mean, I have all Asian.

Q. What's been your favorite dish?

JEENO THITIKUL: I went to sushi place, like where I went last year. That's pretty good. Not the fancy one yet but I think the fancy one, it's the one that I went with Ronni last year.

I didn't went to yet because it's a little far. Too much walk. I walk too much already.

But this year I went to the Thai place called Mahanakhon, which is good. Oh, no, not Mahanakhon, Pranakhon.

Q. Yeah, make sure the shoutout is right.

JEENO THITIKUL: Yeah, sorry, Pranakhon.

Q. Obviously this golf course has got quite a little bit of rain. How have you maybe planned to attack the golf course when it is a little bit softer?

JEENO THITIKUL: Yeah, I think it's kind of play a little easier than like last year, but, you know, it's going to play longer anyway because it's softer. The green, it's kind of easier, softer.

But just got lucky in the morning. Not much wind so we can be aggressive at the pin for the front nine.

We'll see. It's going to be a lot of rain tomorrow.

Q. As far as your putting goes, mentally that can be frustrating not seeing putts drop. What did you find mentally over the past week off that you really applied to this week so far?

JEENO THITIKUL: Yeah, I think first couple days I've been back home and I putt like a lot, a ton. I feel good when I see it's drop but I feel so bad when I see it miss.

So I just like -- when I finish like Tuesday, Wednesday, I just got back home and sit tight and I was like no, you can't be like this. Even it's not in -- it's in or it's not. It has to be the same feelings and same emotion.

If not, your emotion going to be like roller coaster for sure. I just going to putt less and think less. That's pretty much I want to do. Because mental-wise pretty important to see all putts in.

I don't want to be like so tight and tense.

Q. Earlier today the Saudi PIF and Ladies European Tour came to an agreement for a lucrative five-event series. Just wondering if you saw the news, and being a winner earlier this year, do you have a reaction to it?

JEENO THITIKUL: Yeah, I think it's pretty like all the thing that, LPGA, LET, Golf Saudi have been into golf. It's help. I think they're trying to, you know, like get women's golf like bigger and bigger, elevating them to a top level of golf as they can done.

And then it's pretty good news to be honest to me, because it's like get more chance for everyone to play a really good golf course in a really good events.

And also having sponsor like Golf Saudi, which helped women's golf, especially European side.

Q. Why do you think perhaps they've been so beneficial to the women's game? Golf Saudi.

JEENO THITIKUL: I just think whatever helps women's golf, it's good. Because, you know, like men's golf and women's golf kind of see the different of it all the fans. When you go into the PGA TOUR you see a bunch of the fan.

If you go to women's golf you still see the gap between it. So I think if the much we promoed it and then we create new or other sponsor trying to build some more like women's golf to be bigger, that's good enough for us.

Q. There is a new commissioner set to be named of the LPGA. Perhaps wondering, looking forward to the announcement if there is anything you're looking forward to under new leadership or anything perhaps you want to see changed or implemented on the tour?

JEENO THITIKUL: Obviously what we have on the Tour now, it's good. I won't be able to see like any problem with it yet to be honest because I'm the person who enjoyed everything. I'm not really complaining on things much.

I think everything has been good. We just need some leadership to be like, hey, we have to do this. I just trying to find a good commissioner to leading in a good way. That's pretty much I need.
