Q. Joined by Celine Boutier after her first round at the Mizuho Americas Open. Phenomenal round from you today, especially on the front, your back. Six out the nine holes you birdied. What was working so well for you during that stretch.
CELINE BOUTIER: Yeah, I was just able to make a few putts. It was kind of coming close on the back, which was my front nine, and then I got one going on 18, which was my 9th hole.
Then got a really good run at it for the next few holes. So it was really nice to get going and get a few birdies in.
Q. What do you like about Liberty National and how does it suit some of your strengths?
CELINE BOUTIER: Yeah, I think it's a great course. It's very demanding from the tee shot to the green, so I think it's a great test. I feel like it can be played in so many different ways, especially depending on the weather conditions. Especially when it's firm it can be really hard and it's hard to get close to the green.
Then makes a huge difference what direction the wind is coming from. So it's very interesting. Keeps you on your toes definitely 1 to 18.
Q. For some of you, this is your third, fourth week in a row out here playing. How do you maintain your energy levels and especially the major in the mix there?
CELINE BOUTIER: Yeah, I mean, well, I didn't play the weekend in the major so that was kind of helpful to recover I guess. Yeah, just resting in between rounds is important and not getting too much workload on the front end of the week. Just trying to save some energy for the tournament I think is pretty important for those stretches where you have few weeks in a row.
Q. I just looked. You played every event this season. Is that a normal thing for you? Is that something you're just trying this year to see how it goes?
CELINE BOUTIER: Yeah, I was not aware of that. I think I was planning on taking one week off and then it got canceled so it just happened. Like the weeks kind of happened to be all the ones that I was planning on playing.
Also it's very hard to make decisions I feel like. Especially now, this four weeks they're all really good tournaments and you kind of want to go. Like it was my first time going to Utah last week for example. I was excited to go.
So it's really hard to make decisions, but I'm taking Mexico off, so, good news. (Laughter.)
Q. For you, obviously such a consistent player from top to bottom. What's been the key to your consistency over the last couple weeks?
CELINE BOUTIER: I think my game hasn't been too far off. I had trouble scoring here and there, just really a few strokes, putting get in or out, but I don't think my game has been too different from the beginning to this week.
Hopefully I can score a little bit better and make a difference on the leaderboard. But, yeah, my game has been pretty consistent all year so far.
Q. We know Liberty National can be a beast of a golf course. Can be long, windy, firm and fast, and also soft and wet. For you to get off to such a good start, how much does it feel like a breath of fresh air, 6-under, as you look ahead to the next three rounds?
CELINE BOUTIER: Yeah, definitely gives you a little bit of cushion. I feel like especially with the weather coming in tomorrow you just don't know what you're going to get, if we're even going to be able to play.
So just to have a good first round in is definitely a little bit of a relief and gives you a little bit of room to see what's going to happen tomorrow.
Q. Today was announced that the Ladies European Tour and Golf Saudi PIF came to an agreement for a five-event series. Wondering if perhaps you heard the news, and if you had, do you have a reaction on how that can benefit women's golf?
CELINE BOUTIER: Yeah, I think it's amazing that they've made this announcement. I think they raised the purse and made the tournaments very interesting and competitive with the team events. It's definitely fun.
I had the chance to play my first PIF team event last year in October, and I was actually really surprised by how cool and how fun it was to be able to play in a team environment. It's not something we get to experience very much in professional golf, so I thought it was really cool tournament to play in.
And to have a few of these throughout the year in different countries and different courses, I think is very exciting.
