Q. Okay, here with Andrea Lee after her second round at the Mizuho Americas Open. Bogey-free round in tricky conditions. Can you just tell us what a grind it was today?
ANDREA LEE: Yeah, I mean, I was kind of mentally preparing for the worst today. The radar didn't look great for the rain and it was dumping on us pretty hard for probably about 12, 13 holes honestly.
So I knew that I just had to stay really patient out there, know that fairways and greens and pars were a good score, and stay really positive.
So hung in there and just really satisfied with the way I played.
Q. Mentally, I mean, having to switch rain gloves, wipe grips, all that, do you feel like it helps you that you have to get in the routine of that process when it's wet?
ANDREA LEE: Yeah, I feel like I have to get into a bit of a routine, especially in tough weather conditions. Just having Bob, my caddie out there, find a little bit of rhythm just with, yeah, like you said, wiping grips, making sure the gloves are dry, do I need a new glove.
It was a grind for sure. I'm honestly pretty tired after that round. Yeah, really happy with the way we just stuck it out.
Q. Do you consider yourself a mudder at all, being able to play in this kind of sloppy conditions out there, sloppy conditions period?
ANDREA LEE: I would consider myself definitely a grinder. Like I don't really mind the tough conditions. I feel like everyone has to deal it. Can't make excuses for myself out there.
So just got to take one shot at a time, just think that every shot is the most important shot out there, and that's what we did.
Q. I know you hold yourself to pretty high standards. When you have to a round like today in that kind of slop, what does that tell you about your game at the moment?
ANDREA LEE: Yeah, I think my game is trending in the right direction for sure. This is my fourth week in a row playing, and I feel like every week I've definitely improved.
Last week had my first top 10 this year, so, yeah, definitely seeing a lot of positive things in my game and really happy about that.
So just trying to gain some momentum come into this week, and I feel like I put myself in contention for the weekend, so I'm just pretty happy about that.
Q. Hopefully the rain is going to stay away. With a saturated golf course, what is going to be the keys over the next two days for your game plan?
ANDREA LEE: Yeah, well, the weather looks really nice for the weekend, so looking forward to that, not dealing with any rain.
But I think the game plan just stays the same. This is a tough golf course with or without rainy conditions, so just staying really patient out there and trying to maximize as much as possible.
Yeah, just trying to be aggressive but also patient at the same time.
Q. You're not the only player we've heard that's taking this fourth week in a row. What is it about this event or this time of the year that makes players want to come out and push themselves through four weeks of tournament play?
ANDREA LEE: Yeah, well, for me, I feel like I've taken a good break in the offseason. I took Founders off, Arizona, so I felt like I really needed to get some rounds under my belt.
I've seen a lot of good things so I feel like the more I play the more comfortable I get out here, and I feel like I'm really just starting the season. Which is exciting. We have a lot of golf ahead of us this year.
So, yeah, just -- yeah.
