Quick Quotes

Q. Okay, here with Jenny Bae after the first round of the Buick LPGA Shanghai. 7-under. Can you just talk a little bit about how you played today?

JENNY BAE: Today was one of the more peaceful rounds that I've ever had. There were some funky I guess strokes that I had here and there, but I think I had a little bit of luck in me today and thankfully it went in.

Q. Why do you call it peaceful? Anything in particular? Your swing or mental or anything?

JENNY BAE: I think just everything kind of played out the way I always thought it would go on a good day. You know, I just hit simple shots. Everything was just in the middle of the club. You know, good tee shot, good fairway, and good putts. For me it was one of the easier, more smooth-going rounds.

Q. Is there something you do during practice rounds to visualize things like that kind of?

JENNY BAE: Usually I do practice rounds, you know, thinking about where I would try to get my ball on the green like target-wise, but I think this tournament is a little different. I just -- today I just went out thinking I'm just going to go for all the pins and just see how it goes.

Q. And anything in particular you've been working on in your game that you saw come through this week?

JENNY BAE: I have to admit, I really, really focused on my short game for the past month or few months. I feel like without any putting I don't think I could ever get to the score I shot today. I think I'm just going to keep grinding that way.

Q. Have you ever played here in China before?

JENNY BAE: Never. It's my first time. I got the chance to walk around a little bit with my coach yesterday and that was a struggle.

Q. You mean as a tourist?

JENNY BAE: Yeah.

Q. What did you go see? Anything?

JENNY BAE: We just walked around the mall, and somehow we were on the opposite side of the mall so we definitely struggled how to get out.

Q. After Mexico and rounds like this, what has that been doing for you all this year? It's been kind of building it feels like this year.

JENNY BAE: I feel like just having low rounds here and there, and especially coming out more frequently than usual, I feel like I'm on a really good track and I'm starting to feel really comfortable out here. It's a really good sign.

Q. Last week Epson Tour Championship, everyone got their cards. Did you see any of that, and what was your reaction like? Did you have any nostalgia looking at it?

JENNY BAE: I actually got a little bit of chill just looking at the Instagram posts and all the videos that were made.

I feel like, damn, was there. I was there a year ago. Now I'm over here. I'm really excited for them. I hope they do really well, too.

Q. Anyone in particular you are watching to see in the Race to the Card?

JENNY BAE: To be honest, I didn't really know that many people. I kind of kept to myself. But I'm really excited for all of them.
