Quick Quotes

Q. All right, joined here by Madison Young after the first round at the FM Championship. You carded a bogey-free round with five birdies. Talk us through your round today, what you were thinking, what you were feeling.

MADISON YOUNG: It's been kind of a struggle lately with my game, feeling like not super far off but also not super close. So I was just trying to stay patient and trust in the work that I put in. I wasn't really thinking about anything other than just going out and like chasing down birdies and trying to do my best out there.

Q. This is a tricky golf course. Obviously hitting fairways is really important. Did you feel like you were able to do that today? Did you feel like you were finding the places on the fairways that you wanted to?

MADISON YOUNG: Yeah, definitely. I feel like I have kind of an advantage out here just a little bit because I can fly some of the bunker thanks are strategically placed because of my distance. I feel like that helps a little bit out here.

Yeah, it's a tricky course and the greens are a little tricky, but it's a cool place.

Q. Heading into tomorrow, obviously it's still firm, it's been dry recently. What are you looking at as you go into your second round?

MADISON YOUNG: Just kind of staying patient still, just trusting what I do, and finding my landing spots and playing to my conservative but -- conservative target, aggressive swings, and just keep doing the same thing.

Q. You're one the older rookies on Tour.

MADISON YOUNG: I am.

Q. Do you think that gives you extra wisdom or any extra level headedness, or do you think you're out here experiencing everything just like them?

MADISON YOUNG: Yeah, I don't think it gives me an advantage, to be honest. I thought -- three years on Epson I thought maybe would give me I guess a little bit of experience, preparation into coming into being a rookie, but I've quickly learned that the people out here are really good, and you got to level up. So, yeah.

Q. You have some family here with you this week. Do they always travel with you? Is this new? Are they a good luck charm?

MADISON YOUNG: Husband always travels, caddie always travels, and my husband's parents are here. They're not here all the time, but, yeah.

Also this is kind of a home game for them because they're from Massachusetts. I married into the Massachusetts area.

Q. Do you play a lot of golf up here? Do you think that that helped at all?

MADISON YOUNG: No, I don't. I can't say that at all.
