THE MODERATOR: All right, welcome to the media center at the Mexico Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba. I'm joined by Linn Grant here. So excited to be back in Mexico. Just talk about what it's been like for you to be here and see all the sights already.
LINN GRANT: It's so nice. I obviously talked a little bit with Gaby before the tournament was announced and she was like, it's amazing over there. The course is really nice. Obviously the Fairmont and the venue is so pretty. It's just nice to be able to take your off hours by the pool and enjoy some good food and all that.
So it's really a fun week and hopefully it will be fun on the golf course as well.
Q. Have you had the chance to see the course at all?
LINN GRANT: Yeah, seen all of the 18 holes by now. It is tricky out there in the wind. Will be some narrow tee shots and some tiny greens some holes.
So I still think there is a lot of fun holes and a lot of birdie opportunities. Hopefully fun, low week.
Q. Assuming you're heading to the Open next week. How are you using this week to prepare and see what is trending in your game before heading into a major next week?
LINN GRANT: Yeah, I think that's usually what I try to do before a major. I really like playing the week prior just to know -- like you said, just to have a feel of how my shots feel and kind of prepare for next week.
Even though I want to play good this week, obviously my focus is for next week, knowing where the swing is at. And yeah, just walking into next week with a good tournament would be really nice.
Q. What course is this similar to? Does it remind you of anywhere else on Tour?
LINN GRANT: I would have to think about that for a while.
Q. If not, just was curious if it did. What have you learned about it this week in terms of how do you attack the different holes?
LINN GRANT: I mean, obviously wind is quite strong out there, so standing on the range also like the wind is straight into your face, so you tend to hit pretty low shots.
I think that will be sort of the key for me, not play too much of a -- like working the ball too much right to left, left to right. Just trying to keep it low and straight.
And really, like I said, like if you hit the ball good you're always going to have a pretty short putt since the greens are quite small.
Yeah, just want to keep the driver in play and stay out of those hazards on both sides.
Q. There is that big hole on No. 7. What do you think about that?
LINN GRANT: It looks really nice. I'm just happy that I at least can hit a shot short of that. I don't have to think too much about it. I hit like a thin 3-wood into the green the other day and it was just above that edge there.
Yeah, it's fun. It's nothing like anything else, yeah.
Q. What do you think about Mexican golf? How much do you know about it?
LINN GRANT: I don't know much about Mexican golf. I mean, I've been here, played a college event here, and then obviously this week. I think remembering from college, I really liked that course. I think the golf is great. There is some really great players from Mexico.
But I don't know a lot about Mexican golf, more than I just like coming here and playing golf.
Q. Do you know Gaby Lopez, Maria Fassi, even Lorena Ochoa before?
LINN GRANT: Of course. I mean, I know them all on Tour. They're great players obviously. I think it's really fun. I mean, every player on Tour, we all wish we had an LPGA event in our home country.
I think it's really nice for them to be able to kind of show off a really beautiful place of their country and be proud of showcasing it to the LPGA and all of us on TV and all that.
So I would be really happy if the LPGA came to Sweden, so I'm sure they're really excited for the week.
Q. How do you prepare mentally for this kind of situation?
LINN GRANT: I think the last couple weeks for me I've been not bad; I played some solid golf but I missed too many cuts.
It's been quite frustrating out there missing by one or two shots. Coming into this week I feel like I really wanted to prepare for next week, but I also know that if I have a good week I can do really well.
So I try to stay positive even though I know in the back of my head I've had some results I'm not really happy with. So mentally I'm just trying to kind of start on a new kind of journey now. Just leaving those results behind and just moving forward.
Q. We saw some fun fit checks from you at Chevron. Can we expect some more of those next week at U.S. Open?
LINN GRANT: There will be some new stuff for next week. Not originals though unfortunately. Obviously those were really fun and nice.
But, yeah, every major is pretty much like a moment in time, so I think all of us are rocking something new for the week.
But not as dramatic as Chevron.
Q. When you say a moment in time, can you give us a hint as to what next week is, the moment you're going to capture with what you're going to wear?
LINN GRANT: I'm trying to think now if there is a moment in time. Sorry, that was probably me just saying something I shouldn't have.
But, no, there might not be a moment in time next week actually. But for those weeks, as Chevron was, was like one of those obviously.
I think at least all of us, like we're wearing something we haven't worn yet for the season. I think the summer collection is kind of on the bridge of coming out now, so it'll still be exciting.
THE MODERATOR: Thank you so much, Linn. Appreciate it.
LINN GRANT: Thank you.
