THE MODERATOR: All right, welcome to the media center here at the Mexico Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba. I'm very pleased to be joined by Clarisa Temelo.
Just want to chat about I know you got the sponsor invite this week. How excited are you to be teeing it up in your own home country this week?
CLARISA TEMELO: Yeah, well, first of all I'm very grateful, thankful for this opportunity. Gustavo is the one who gave me this invitation, so very thankful for that.
Yeah, I'm just very excited to be able to play in Mexico. I love playing and representing Mexico, and being able to play at home is extra special for me.
Q. You and your team just had a great week at the NCAAs. Tell me a little bit about your experience of the week and how that's helping you prepare for a professional event here in Mexico.
CLARISA TEMELO: Yeah, we played for like I think six straight days, including the practice round. So, yeah, I'm kind of in a roll.
But, yeah, played stroke play and I think we got in fifth place, and yesterday we played matches against Northwestern and sadly that's where we ended. I'm very happy to be here and be able to play here this week.
Q. What is your preparation going to look like this week? I know you just said six days in a row. How do you prepare for this week after such a busy stretch?
CLARISA TEMELO: Yeah well, I was back in Oregon and I was practicing with my coaches and teammates, and right now I'll get to practice with my coach, Horatio. I'll get to walk the course, because I haven't played here in a while. So I will walk the course and, yeah, just I think check off everything.
Q. There are eight Mexican golfers in the field, which is the most we've had at a single LPGA Tour event. What does that say about golf in Mexico in general and how excited are you to be a part of that?
CLARISA TEMELO: I think we are all very excited and glad that we're having an LPGA event here in our country. Yeah, this pretty much talks about the way that golf in Mexico is growing and all the potential that Mexican players have.
Q. Last question from me: Lorena is obviously here. A big part in making this event happen. What has she meant to you as a player?
CLARISA TEMELO: Well, of course always growing up I was watching Lorena and was like, oh, my God, she's the best. I want to be like her. Yeah, all the impact she has brought into all these tournaments, it's amazing and someone I really look up to.
