Q. All right, here with Olivia Cowan after her first round. Tell me about the day today. I know it was hot, but what were some of the other good parts of the day?
OLIVIA COWAN: Well, one of the best parts was playing with a friend, so that was very enjoyable. Even though we knew it was going to be a struggle out there with the heat, we kept each other in positive spirits and tried to have the best time out there.
Q. What were some of the best parts of your game today that led to the 3-under round?
OLIVIA COWAN: I just played pretty steady overall. I knew it was obviously very windy and it was swirling a little bit, so just tried to stay focused and take the opportunities when they come.
Just kind of stay patient out there and hit good shots, and then hopefully just some putts would drop.
Q. Any specific birdies for you stand out today or moments on the course that were really good?
OLIVIA COWAN: I chipped in on 1, so that was a good start.
Q. Yeah. Anything else?
OLIVIA COWAN: Just on 16 I had a pretty long shot in. I actually left myself a lot longer than what I wanted; then stiffed it to like ten feet, so that was nice.
Q. Awesome. I know we talked about the heat. What do you do to prepare for that? How has your preparation looked this week getting ready for the conditions?
OLIVIA COWAN: I think recovery is key. I think I've tried to rely on my practice at home last week and tried to do as minimal as possible out here just because it is so hot.
So I've had really early starts playing the course and a little bit of practice here and there, but I've tried to just stay indoors and recover a bit.
