El Camaleón Golf Course

Carlota Ciganda

Quick Quotes

Q. Okay, here with Carlota after her second round here. Just solid round to move up the leaderboard. What were your thoughts, especially you had five birdies in six holes there. What was going through your head?

CARLOTA CIGANDA: Yeah, I think it's important to be very patient here. It's a tough course. It's not easy. You can be playing great golf and then all of a sudden you hit a bad tee shot and you can just make a double.

That's what happened on 12, my third hole. I just lost the ball. I thought was very patient. I made a good birdie on 18 to go 1-over. Bogeyed 1 with a great shot; just hard to judge the wind out there.

Then I went on a little run. Birdied 3, 4, 5, 7, and 8. Those are usually very nice to have those birdies on the par-5s. I hit it pretty close and made some good putts.

Yeah, happy with the round.

Q. What do you think makes this course so difficult? There has been just a higher scoring average in general.

CARLOTA CIGANDA: Yeah, it's really narrow off the team. There is a lot of wind that you can't really feel much on the tee, so you have to commit to those lines and I think it can get tricky.

Then the greens, you have some grain so they are slower than what we are used to, so you have to hit it a bit harder. It's just a course I have to be really focused on each shot. It's tricky out there, especially with the wind when it picks up.

Yeah it's fun. You can also go on a little run and make a few birdies.

Q. Not too far out of lead. After the past two rounds here what are your thoughts heading into the weekend?

CARLOTA CIGANDA: Yeah, I mean, just stay patient, stay focused, one shot at a time, have a good strategy going into the weekend, and hopefully I can execute and be up there on Sunday.

Q. What does it mean to be in this position in a place like this as well?

CARLOTA CIGANDA: Yeah, I love playing in countries that Spanish is the main language. Obviously Mexico I won an LPGA tournament there, so it's always special coming here.

I love the people. I love the service. I think it's very welcoming, and just listening to people speaking Spanish makes me really happy.

Yeah, it's been a good week so far and I'm excited for the weekend.
